The one review online talks about how this model collapsed due to rain weight. If we get rain this weekend, you might want to watch for areas of pooling on the roof and sort of poke from the underside to make the pooling run off.
I purchased this one as an extra shade tent, sort of on impulse. Haven't had a chance to set it up at all, so it will be an adventure!
Wow, and I thought I was getting a good deal at Target for $60 for something similar! Mine is a Greatland brand. I have to admit, though, it seems a little flimsy. I've already bent one of the poles. I wanted to use it as a post for a tarp or two, but it seems a little too shaky for that. I still have to see if I can bolster it with a few stakes...
^^ If you get that one, make sure to have a lot of airflow. It's SUPER hot at Roo, and while shade is good, you don't want to be all caught up in there, with no breeze.

That said, I would DO IT!
Good point! Luckily, the flaps are optional (they roll up). So, in the up position, it'll be good for shade. In the down position, it'll hopefully stay dry in the event of rain. I'll have a lightweight canopy as well, so that might end up getting more use. This one may just end up as a glorified tarp holder...
