BTW, if you check out ticketmaster for the MSG show there are some lower level seats released again. Right now I am getting section 91 seats 1-2 on the search.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
Just wanted to let you all know that there was a blurb in the last Rolling Stone (not the most recent one with Metallica, but the issue immediately before it) about the NYE show. I am still trying to convince folks this is where we NEED to be on December 31, with not as much luck as I'd like so far. Anyways, I couldn't find it online so am just typing it in here. (Apologies if this is posted elsewhere, but I didn't see it...)
Our man Jim James gave us the lowdown on My Morning Jacket's New Year's Eve gig at Madison Square Garden -- a three-hour fiesta that promises to top the show they staged in San Francisco at the end of 2006. That night, MMJ performed a skit where they ate bassist Two-Tone Tommy. 'At the end, he came back resurrected and killed the rest of us,' says James, 'and we went up a stairway to heaven.' At the Garden, the band plans to pick up where that show left off. James is mym on what will happen next, but you can bet it will be a religious experience. 'I'm a big believer in the spirits and ghosts of a particular room,' he says. 'We'll try to pay respects to the room, but beyond that, it's kind of out of our control.'
Oh man. Could I get any more excited for this? Ummmm.......YES!!!! At the Philly show Jimmy J said something like "It's gonna be partly cloudy with a 80% chance of ghosts." Ghosts are cool

I bought my tickies from Becca about 6-8 weeks ago! Had to seriously consider this but Hubby is the Jim James Freak and I love Bisco. We are travelling from Canada and will be staying with Cupcake (Member here and Admin on Infobury) and her hubby in connecticut. I know nothing about NYC!!!! I've unfortunately never been there. But we do love roo!!!! And Roth! What time do people suggest we hop the train? We will be taking the South East Train into NYC on that date. I have tickies for Bisco on the 30th. Dale (Hubby) and I will celebrate our tenth anniversary on this trip instead of going to the Caribbean! What better way! Let me see if I can find a pic of Dale and Jim James that I took in Toronto when they played!!! WE are such freaks about MMJ that we drive back from Tennessee (Roo 08) on the Sunday, to see MMJ play at the Guvernment in Toronto on the Monday!
Woohoo!! Just booked my room deal with Consider it Dan!!!
It's officially official!! See you kids out there!
Wooofreakinghooooo!!!!
What time does the pre-party begin? I was hoping to meet up with some of you cats together before the show.I was thinking of something around 5 PM near by MSG as well. I will start looking around at bars/restarunts in the area.

I would have done the deal if it wasn't for the fact that I live near by. Doh! I called up Mustang Harry's and they said they were expecting 200 ppl from 6-8.
I also called Hertland Brewey off of 35th and 5th Ave and said they do private parties from 20 and up. (The place seats 450 people)I am going to get a price and see how many ppl are interested. I am thinking between the time 4-7 possibly.

keep in mind that alot of streets will be closed in that area and traffic and stuff - its a few avenues to MSG so just time yerr stuff right.

Stout is a really good bar in that area. FYI.
Thanx for the heads up. I am also looking to see about reservation and how far in advanced they takem and what not.
I know a cool place in Queens by my job that won't be crowed (it probably won't have anyone actually during that time), but that would be almost as bad as going to brooklyn. It is only 3 stops into Queens though and they have good brews and good food.
We have two options, that would be either find a place near by the Garden and make due to a place that will be crowed, or go somewhere a little bit out of the way with little or no crowd at all.
My suggestion was gonna be the Brooklyn Brewery but thats only because it's the cheapest place that I have foud in the city.
Well, they may not have that if you go there now. They are always changing up their brews just because some may get tapped out. I went here last year because I got out of work around 11 and there was no way I was going home since I have to go through Time Square to get home.
I popped my head in there around 3:00pm that day and it was a ghost town. Most ppl are heading toward the city, so we would have the place to ourselves. BTW, how many people will be joining you on NYE?
I almost had a heart attack over this post - I'll be in Baltimore the 27th through the 30th, but in October not December. For a second there I thought I was going to be able to catch some real music while at a stupid, boring conference.

So sorry. I guess I should have posted the month. I just go too excited. Billy Bragg is playing the Rams Head in Baltimore the 28th. I fully endorse this show. I am seeing him the day before in DC. And Ironically enough I am flying out of Baltimore the 28th. Let me know if I can point you in the directions of some venues.
