So sorry. I guess I should have posted the month. I just go too excited. Billy Bragg is playing the Rams Head in Baltimore the 28th. I fully endorse this show. I am seeing him the day before in DC. And Ironically enough I am flying out of Baltimore the 28th. Let me know if I can point you in the directions of some venues.
Thanks for the tip!! Never heard of him (them?) so I'll check it out - anything's better than boring evenings in a hotel and conference small-talk.
Dale an dI will be coming in From Canada and would like to meet up if someone decides on a bar. Just give me the time and place to be. (Directions would be great too) We are headed into Connecticut to my fellow Inforoo friends place "Cupcake" and will be taking the "SouthEast" train into the city! Dale and I would most definitely be up for a pre party if someone arranges it!
OK guys and gals, looks like I have a place for us. I decided to go with the place in Queens just because we got a good deal on it. This is what we get:
-The bar/restarunt to ourselves -3 hours buffet and open bar ( includes all 24 beers on tap, 12 oz bottled beer, hard liquor and wine) -Guitar Hero and Rock Band -$50 a head
We shall call this the Inforoo Rockin NYE Party. If you want in on the action then just let me know either here or PM me.
Also, I want to add that you have up until December 12th (Friday) to make RSVP and I will work with those of you that need to divide the payments in half. Just PM me if that is the case
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
^^I may be down for this. If I can sell my Chicago tickets (fraking reschedule), I'll have some extra bones and I'll be able to swing out that way.
Have they offically rescheduled the show yet?
Ummmm ... Open bar. I'll PM you but put me down for two. Dear lord. This is going to be a great night.
If you love beer you will love this place. This is coming from a beer snob that is hard to please. They do have Bud,Corona, miller as well for those who like the normal every day beer. The Liquor selection is good as well. ;-)

Hey guys just wanted to tell you all that unfortunately because I'm not doing mmj@msg anymore, I will not be able to have a pre-party at my place - I have to be at nokia a litlle earlier than you guys and its just a little much planning on my part. I think most of you knew this already, but jay asked me to let everyone know again, so that you all can make a appropriate decision regarding the pre-party jay has planned .have fun!

DirtyJerzee-You can definitely count me in on the NYE pre party! You make my hubby very very happy for the unlimited beer! Do you have a paypal account for this so I can send you the money easily?

I do have paypal. I am going to wait until the beginning of next week to take money though just because I told the owner I wouldn't sign off on the contract until I found out who is interested in doing this. As of right now it looks very promising, as I have recived quite a few responses back saying they are interested.
I was wondering if anyone had any some recommendations on where me and my friend could stay that night. Preferably a cheap hotel that could be reached by the subway after the show. Any ideas? Thanks.
Cheap and New Years usualy contradicts itself. How much are you loooking to spend? If you are looking for cheap you will most likely would be stayng at a hostel (would not recommend) or be all the way out by the airports which is a bit of a way from MSG.
Is the MMJ show sold out? I still don't have any plans for New Year's and I would really like to do this. If they are sold out, I'll probably just find some guy on eBay / StubHub charging three times what he paid. Damn it, why did I have to be so dirt poor when tickets went on sale?
And Jerzee - if I do manage to finagle a ticket, however, you can definitely count me in on the Inforoo pre-party. $50 is a steal - I will makes sure to keep you posted if I end up going. Plus, I already have a guaranteed spot on a comfy couch for the night, and it's less than a mile south of MSG.
How much would you say hotels by the airport are? And can I take the subway to get there after the show gets out?
I'm not sure about hotel prices, but you can definitely take the subway to get there afterwards. It normally runs all night, and on New Year's Eve, I'm sure the trains will be extra frequent. I would probably book soon, though.
As Jerzee said, cheap and New Year's is usually a contradiction, and that goes double or even triple when you're in New York. Sometimes, you just have to say "screw it, it's New Year's - I'll have a great night out tonight and pinch a few pennies later to make up for it".
A word of advice - make sure you know how to operate the NY subway system. If you've never used it, it can be quite overwhelming and confusing, with all the colors, letters and numbers. It's very, very different than the T. You can always ask the people who work at the station, or if worst comes to worst, you can catch a cab to the airport. Just make sure you know which airport you are near, JFK or LaGuardia!
Anyway, here's hoping I get mah hands on that ticket.

Sweet! I just got my ticket! I would have gotten it last night, but Ticketbastard was doing "routine maintenance" to their website and it wouldn't let my order go through.

This is going to be a very fun New Year's.
Nice! I was about to say if you wanted to shoot for something closer Stubhub is probably the way to go and not too outrageous unless you are looking for something really close.

As far the subways, I am not sure how close they are. you would have to research. I would also recommend price a few different sites(hotels.com, orbitz and so on) to see if you can find a better deal.
im thinking we should have a reference sheet for everyone going to this show - i'd be happy to make it. just pm me with your name, cell, and seat/section. probably if you're attending the inforoo pre-party at the bar or not too. hell, hotel would also be good to know too.
when it gets closer to the show ill put it on sendspace for everyone to dl.
I just wanted to put this opening act question to bed. I found out from an inside source that there will absolutely NOT be an opener for MSG. Jacket are scheduled to play a 4-hour set from 9pm - 1am. This is truly going to be EPIC. The lighting and stage set up is going to be massive. I've heard a couple rumors of special things that are going to happen, but I don't want to ruin the surprise. Suffice it to say that Jim's entrance will be legendary.
Any MMJ fan worth his (or her) salt needs to be at this show!
