Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I agree with Idioteque.(It was nice meeting you by the way.) BEST RUN THRU EVER! After touch me part 2 and run thru, I think I left something in my pants. The pit was a lot of fun except for a couple dbags, but thats comes with it. It wasn't as good as the bonnaroo show, but still up there. I found the countdown online with Celebration being played right after.
it was great meeting you guys! we are dying to know how your buddy liked the show? it was a very good way to get introduced to the band... and ya'll we're close to the stage too!
i saw a blurry pic of you in the background on someones pics on the mmj forum... it's hard to miss the sweater
I have to say, I also loved the surprise appearance by Nicole Atkins.
One of the great things about the show is that MMJ is really one of those bands that works off the energy of the crowd, and they make sure to pull out all the stops for the big shows. Bands always say stuff like "it's great to be playing Milwaukee/San Fran/D.C./etc." at their shows, and you know they don't mean it any more than the next city. When Jim kept talking about how it was such an incredible honor to be playing MSG on New Year's, you knew he really meant every single word of it.
I honestly can't think of a better way for them to have ended the year when they completely exploded in popularity.

He definitely had a hell of a time. Definitely a good way to get introduced to MMJ! I'll have to look for that pic.

Hey guys, I'm sure I'm not the only who has been waiting to hear this show. I just wanted to let you know that it has just been posted on archives.org: www.archive.org/details/mmj2008-12-31 Sound quality is not the greatest, but definitely good enough. I'm sure several copies will surface in the days to come, but for those wanted to get a first listen, check it out. I'm jealous of all you that got to go.
So last night turned out to be amazing. I knew it would, but i ended going with 6 friends rather that 1, cause 5 of them decided to go at the last minute. We met at the train station in Hamilton NJ and rode into NYC and had a fun train ride taking shots and pictures. Then we got off the train at like 845 and went to the bathroom, took a few more shots and split up. My tickets were in section 8, and they were in section 422 at the top.
So i spent a little over half the show in section 8, and then we went up to join the rest of our group in section 422 to ring in the new year. Totally worth it. It was amazing. Here are some good pics
Mike... that's you the tallest one in the back right? I was out in that same spot when I saw you go into the building, and then again in MSG by the main set of doors... I kept yelling "Corncat" and "Inforoo" (my friends got a good laugh, started yelling inforoo too, but also thought I was nutz) but you never turned around so I figured it probably wasn't you... but it definitely was
And I'd like to reiterate, aside from the possible exception of a beach in Hawaii? ...there is NO PLACE I would have rather been in America on NYE than MSG with all of y'all I've been to a lot of shows there, but NONE had quite the level of energy I felt in the air with MMJ and that partyin' crowd!!! ;D
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
Does anyone know if the show sold out? Someone told me it did and someone else told me it didn't quite sell out, but almost. I also heard that it was MMJ's first headlining show in a venue of that size, which is really cool as well.

^^^ Well, the 400's were only about a quarter full, so I'm guessing not sold out, but sold SOLID, absolutely
So much of the crowd was SO happy to be there, and I didn't see one security guy the whole night, just a bunch of beer salesmen ;D ...yup, it truly felt like an indoor Bonnaroo New Year's to me, especially knowing that Mule was also melting faces a block away in the Hammerstein Tent

It didn't sell out as the 400 section looked pretty empty but all the lower bowls looked packed. I heard they had about 15,000 there which is an excellent size crowd. The garden is a tough hole to fill.

I wish I could say the same about security as everyone else is.
For most of the night we were really laid back. Had no problems. During Cold Sweat cover I get a tap on the shoulder telling me that I had to leave. They didn't like the smoking white cigarette-shaped thing in my hand. I was shocked considering there was at least 90 other people within yelling distance who I had seen doing the same thing as myself.
While I understand I was breaking a rule.......I couldn't believe that I was singled out and had to leave while everyone else didn't get in any sort of trouble at all. Luckily I only missed two songs but I still was upset after being forced out of MSG onto the streets of NYC.
Wow, that sucks man. Usually they give you at least one warning before they toss you. Its amazing to me how hypocritical security is at these places. They will ignore 50 people and just pick one person to be a dick to. Like they have to feel important cause they work the glamorous life of arena security. When will these places learn that you will never stop this activity at any concert ever and just roll with it.

^^^ Same thing happened to a good friend of mine at MSG Roger Waters... 'cept, he wasn't smoking ANYTHING, yet everyone ELSE around was, even AS it was all HAPPENING ??? ... sucks, you found the Danny Ponce, I mean, not even a warning? Real glad you made it past Midnight and had fun anyway, despite the fact

hey hey don't hate on concert security! I do concert security and one time someone was hailing corncat right in front of me and i didn't say anything until some lady with kids complained(it was James Taylor) then I just told the guy that I don't give a crap just watch your back or do it somewhere else.
I don't understand how they can even begin to control these things...I just let it flow.

I hear you man, i'm not hating but living in new york my whole life I have had many run ins with security people at shows who just like to flex there limited power and muscle. The garden too is the worst. Its the ultimate contradiction. You basically can walk in with assault rifles but once inside you better put out that white smokey thing.

Don't get me wrong.
I had an AMAZING time. I also wasn't upset because I understood that I was breaking a rule. It just blows that I was the only one to get kicked out that I saw.
But the show rocked.
Just amazing. 13 minute dondante. Covers galore. Amazing.

I think this is pretty solid recording. I have yet to download it to my comp, but the stream sounds good. My gf and friend that went to the show are ecstatic that the show is already up. Thanx :-)
^I hadn't really listened to it when I posted. The first song I heard had a lot of crowd banter but after listening to the whole thing I think that the sound quality is actually very good. Brought me back a little to hear some of the same covers from Roo!

thanks for the heads up on the archive link. Now I really just want that Chicago show from a few nights before... why oh why has it not popped up anywhere yet!!
^Yeah I was really hoping for that too. I'm sure it will pop up sooner or later, although aside from a few songs, the setlist looks a little more typical, so I was more excited about the NYE show being up.

i got thrown out of radio city at the moe 2006/2007 nye show. never again.
We had no problems with security in our section. I didn't really even see them once the show started. We snuck my one friend down on the floor so he could sit with us. We smoked a plenty and smelled plenty more. I was actually really surprised how lax it was.
Yemalope, I love you! Re: security at MSG, I was asked to not stand on my chair (which, if you know me, is hilarious b/c I am strictly by the rules 24/7). There was a lot (A LOT!) of smoking going on in our section and I didn't see security once. Then again, I don't think I took my eyes off of Jim once, either.
