well i called ticketmaster and was able to cancel my 303 section and i kept my 7 section...i dont like to resale tix, and if i did i would do face value....
I had tickets in section 36 but I got an error page when I submitted my info. I guess I took too long or something. Oh well, just being in the place is enough for me. I cannot wait for NYE.
That must have been some show. I wish I was into Phish at that time. The Garden seems to bring out the best out of performers from what I have seen (Metallica,DMB,Billy Joel, Coldplay)This will be my 9th tour of MSG.
The excitement was palpable, the energy through the roof. The scene outside the venue was a madhouse. The crowd was building on 7th Ave from like 10 AM on. I was in a hotel on the 10th floor across the street from MSG and was awoken on the morning of the 31st to screams of Phish fans lining up along 7th avenue. I've never seen any crowd get so loud as we did that night when they walked on stage. It felt like MSG was about to bust out of its seams. Phish reciprocated by opening with a 17 minute version of Piper that just exploded with a furious intensity that had been pent up for over 2 years.
It wasn't the most remarkable Phish show ever when it was all said and done, but it was definitely one of my most memorable.
I'm looking at the Holiday Inn Express across the street, Red Roof Inn or La Quinta near the Empire State Building, and a boutique hotel called Murray Hill Inn a bit further east. Does anyone have any good recommendations for close by MSG, say like within 10-12 blocks?
my gf was thinking of making a shirt up for this show. we were thinking a brown shirt with a jello pudding box on the front with the name/flavor "peanut butter surprise". and on the back, just MMJ @ MSG (next line)New Years Eve 2008. maybe throw those wierd mmj owls on the back for good measure.
So ticketmaster let me cancel 2 of the three sets i bought. i kept my floor seats. i was gonna wait and try to sell them at face value, but i decided i wasnt ready to part with 245 just yet.

Ok, kids. I need your help:
My husband and I have been tossing around ideas regarding the logistics of our trip out to NYC for the show. We first looked at flying out there on the morning of the 31st, getting a hotel near the venue and flying out the next morning. Problem with that is that we flew on NYE last year and it sucked *BALLS*--like huge, stuck on the tarmac for 12 hours, hairy balls. So to avoid that again, we thought about flying in a day earlier, but we really can't afford a decent hotel room in NYC for two nights.
Next option was a train. For a hundred bones each, each way, we would roll right up to Penn Station and see the show, then catch the next one back the next day. Problem with that is 24 hours on a train the way there (even though the way back is 18. . . hmm). So we weren't really feeling that, either.
Next option--drive. Leave the morning of the 30th--drive the 12 hours to Allentown, PA--get a cheap hotel, drive to NYC the next day, find a decent parking garage--party at Chez Sparkly, hang out with the Jacket, then leave the city and get as far out as we can to get another cheap hotel.
So--what do you all think? Does this last plan sound ok? Am I missing something? Is it going to be possible to park my car in NYC on NYE in a garage? Help!
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

lol at chez sparkly. as far as garages i mean Yeahh your gonna be able to find parking but its not gonna be cheap. im sure lots will 1. get full fast b.charge you out the ass cuz its new years etc etc etc. but if you park near me it will be WAY easier than if you park near MSG. uhm...as far as driving out of the city on NYE.....dependent on your party favors and such..i dont know if thats the best idea...still no luck with CL ?

Take the train. It's the least painful option that time of year. You don't have as much to wrry about. You get right to the building. You will be delayed big time if you fly, and you will hit serious traffic if you drive. Don't cut your arrival time too close.
I think it's the only option that has any chance of you not being exhausted for the show. You also don't want to drive on NYE in NYC. Not only for the sake of your own lack of sobriety, but more so for that of others.

Mine too^^^Standard Mail I've never held tickets for 6 months before... wait no, Floyd in '94 I bought tix in a snowstorm in Feb, and then, the BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED happened in July...
And now, FINALLY, 15 years later, in six months I think I am FINALLY going to the show that may actually have a chance to rival it ... 'cept this time the concert itself will be the snowstorm... ;D ;D ;D
