I've discovered www.youmail.com, they basically take over your cell voicemail and make it web based as well as phone based. You can even have your voicemails transcribed and e-mailed or texted to you!
You can also set up groups of contacts or individual contacts and set up custom greetings for them, youmail has tons of their own funny greetings to use but you can use your own too.
Theres also ditchmail... you can set certain contacts so they can't leave a message at all! But before not leaving a message you can set a custom greeting like "Thank you for calling. This gives us another opportunity to tell you to go to hell. If you feel you've reached this message in error... you didn't. You reached it because you suck." or... you could put a 5 minute recording of the chicken dance on there so they have to listen to the whole thing before not being able to leave a message.

I think if I had to think of one thing that so many people do that irritate me to no end, it's leaving a voicemail that says "hey man, call me back when you get this... thanks"
As if I didn't get that memo by the missed call I had from you already...

ohmy god you read my mind dude. i hate that. my mom is a major culprit of this. yes i know you just called you dont have to leave me a msg to call you back EVERY time you call me , i will call you right back, i saw that you called. VERY aggravating.
Exactly strum. Exactly. I already recorded one for those people. "Dude, you really don't need to leave a message. I'll see your missed call and call you back soon." then it hangs up without beeping.

my mom is also a major culprit. When I clean out my voicemail(which is SO MUCH EASIER with it web based) half of them are my mom or grandmother asking for me to just call them back.
You probably want to listen to their voicemails over and over, thats why
Dude, when my dad was first in the hospital last year and couldn't talk for almost 3 months, my mom would repeatedly call his voicemail just so she could hear him talking, even though it was just "Leave a message please"

hahah TBH im not really a phone person unless absolutely necessary. i prefer a text, a twitter, a BBM a IM its so fucking easy to get in touch with me no adays

ditto ditto ditto, my mom does the same thing. i even tell her, don't leave a message, i'll call you back! but she still does it. voicemail is so antiquated. i'm not gonna call my voicemail THEN call you, sheesh! cut out the middle man!
I have to admit that I do that to a couple of my flaky friends. Just cause they hardly ever call back unless I leave a message. Like, ummm, just reminding you to not be an ass and call me back, k thnx

I like when people leave messages, then I know if it is worth getting on the phone with them or not, I really prefer texting whenever possible, much more to the point and editable.
