This was our first 'Roo, and while it was an awesome, unforgettable trip, the organizers really need to get their shit together.
It was the 2nd year of Family Camping, but we asked numerous volunteers before we found one who knew where it was.
By 2 PM on Thurs, they were out of maps & guides. When we asked if they would be getting more, a volunteer suggested we take a picture of the posted map with our phone and zoom in on it. Yeah, I want to refer to a screen the size of a postage stamp while stumbling in the dark.
About 2/3 of the family campground wasn't mowed -- it looked like the Serengeti. We got parked in grass that was -- no exaggeration -- up to our 5-year old daughter's chest. Not cool finding ticks on the kids all weekend.
On the way to Centeroo Friday AM, the Garnier people kindly gave our daughter a free umbrella. Ten minutes later it was confiscated at the Centeroo gate. Nice start to the day to have a five year old crying because they took away her new umbrella. Why was Garnier even handing out things that weren't allowed in?
Don't get me wrong -- none of this ruined our weekend or anything, but it was annoying that it all could have easily been avoided with just a tiny bit of planning on the organizers' part.

"The following items will NOT be permitted into Centeroo . . . food (with the exception of small snacks)" (from the Roo website, was also in the guidebook, and has been the same rule every year)
My boyfriend tried to bring in some of those little individual boxes of cereal (seems like the epitome of a "small snack" to me), and the woman at the gate threw them away.

Dude, the taking of food was ridiculous. That's edging close to Woodstock '99 territory. You can still meet some really awesome people there, but the festival itself is definitely getting more corporate. People shouldn't be forced to either be hungry or buy that overpriced Centeroo food if they want to stay in there all day. They also cleverly don't put the prices on the boards most of the time, so you order a gyro and the guy says "ok, ten dollars."

It was kind of odd that they didn't put prices up, but aren't most things really expensive unpriced? I've been to several steakhouses that either didnt have prices listed for items, or it simply said, "Market Price" which usually means more than I want to pay. For the vendors with no prices I would simply walk up, ask how much what I wanted was, and then decided.

Excuse me? A $10 gyro? I had to walk away.
I didn't like that at all -- they could tell you any price they wanted and you'd never know.
A shish kebob vendor near the This Tent also tried to short change my husband yesterday. He gave him a $20 and the vendor tried to give him change back for a $10. We gave him benefit of the doubt at first, but I walked over there to get another shish kebob ten minutes later, and saw him try to pull the same stunt on somebody else. Probably figures half the people there are too drunk or high to notice.
Running out of guidebooks is inexcusable. I was really irritated not to have one and to be told that there would be no more. Seems like simple math there.
Leaving on Sunday was a complete cluster. Why in the world didn't they open the exit on to I-24? The last two years we've driven right out of Marsellus or Zed and been on our way. This year we left during Plant/Krauss. We pulled out of our spot at 7:45, and then sat in gridlock on the farm for almost three hours just to leave. Ridiculous.
For a year when there were supposed to be 15K less people, lines to get into Centeroo were ridiculous, sometimes over an hour just to get through the hit-or-miss security.
We had a great time at usual, but by now shouldn't they have these things worked out? Couple this with the complaints from VIP and I'm worried for 'Roo.

It's been my experience that much like the security search when you come in, it all depends on who you get checking your line. My group and I took plenty of food and such in w/ us and never had any problems. However like real police, some security people just go out of their way to be a-holes about stuff.
However I was throughly pissed that no one in my group got a map or book. It's a damn good thing we'd all been before and knew where to go and such, or we'd have been S.O.L.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
I bitched out the girl that threw away my food, she could have told me to take it back to my tent if I wanted to or eat it there in front of her before heading in like other security people were letting people do. She didn't say anything at all. She took it out of my backpack and threw it in the trash. I was so mad, I think I even got a few applause for it though.
I probably would have let her just throw it away because I had a lot more back at camp but it still bothered me that she didn't give me a choice. The next day I saw a Security Supervisor and bitched to him about it and he said that they were allowing food in again. But overall the people at the gates into Centeroo did seem a lot more assholish this year.
The guy that was supposed to search our car did not seem to care about anything at all though. He asked me if I had been there before and knew the rules. I said yes and he marked my car with the S. I didn't even have to open a door.
