I took my girlfriend this year to her first Roo after going the past 6 years by myself. She had never slept outside in her life prior to our arrival on the farm. She had a blast and before the weekend was over had already said, " Next year, we should..." before she caught herself. Seven years of Bonnaroo = seven of the most enjoyable weekends of my existence. Can't wait for the line-up to be released for Roo '09!

I personally didn't bring a rookie, but our one roo neighbor was not only a roo rookie, but a concert rookie. I kept laughing and shaking my head at trying to imagine Bonnaroo as my first concert ever,it's awesome but everything else after roo would seem mediocre I would think. I did my best to help him and his brother Jason see some kick ass shows. I dragged them to Lord T and Eloise(Jason already has one of their songs as his Myspace profile song so I think he like them) and I made sure they didn't miss Robert Randolph's set. This year was the most fun I had with my neighbors, I spent a lot of time seeing shows and running around with all of them from both sides of the camp.I feel really lucky we got cool neighbors.
We brought a rookie with us this year. An old friend of mine from back home in DC. Love the guy to death, but by the end of the weekend I was ready for him to go back home. I hope he comes next year again and has a great time, but I'm just gonna need more me time!

2007 was my first roo, and after tellin my friend Steve about it he said he would only go the next year if Metallica was playing. Sure enough they were on the lineup and he had no choice! Now he wont shut up about how great it was and it was probably the coolest thing hes ever done besides skydiving. Now this super Metallica fan is going every year no matter who's playin. Go figure.

I was a rookie last year and went with 5 other rookies, its hard to get people to travel so far but by our pictures and the way we all talk about it we're hoping to add a couple more carloads

3 out of the 5 people in our group were rookies. They were not as prepared as me and my lady They were amazed at how everything they wanted or needed we had plenty of and were ready to share. We had things they didn't even know they wanted.
My favorite rookie story from this past summer was bringing my buddy to his first festie at All Good. He was like a little kid at Disney World. Eyes wide open and smiling the whole weekend. "hey can i go over there?" "hey can i go do that?" I would just laugh and be like you can do whatever the hell you want to do. He absolutely loved it and we are planning our festie trips for next year.

I brought 2 rookies with me this year. They had a blast and constantly speak of going back next year, as well as going to other festivals. They did party a little too hard the first day, but once they realized that pacing themselves would result in an overall better time they adapted perfectly. I'm hoping every year that I can continue bringing new people into the fold so that they can experience the glory that is the roo.

Jon, you and your girlfriend are so cute!
I brought my boyfriend to Bonnaroo this year (it was his first Roo, my third), and my favorite moment was seeing him at Pearl Jam with a bubble-blowing machine, blowing bubbles into the crowd, bouncing around with glowsticks and grinning the whole time. Also, he couldn't get over how prepared I was. Every time he asked, "Hey do we have..." I of course said, "Yes!" He thought I was over packing, but after the weekend was over he was very thankful for everything we had. Most of our neighbors were rookies as well, and horribly under prepared...we wound up sharing most of our stuff with them, which was fine...Roo spirit!
I also took my 15 year old brother (he's 17 now) to his first Bonnaroo in 2007. He had only been to a few concerts before, and of course had never been to a festival! Seeing his face light up when we finally got on the farm was worth all the trouble it took to convince my parents to let him go. Now, it's not even a question. My parents ask if we want money for Bonnaroo tickets at Christmas and Josh and I are already planning next year ;D
We were all rookies 2 years ago, and the same crew returned with about 6 or 7 rookies (2 of which had been to a number of smaller fests, but nothing like Roo). All of us are returning once again, this time with about 10 more rookies. I just love it how all the rookies seem to get jitters right before Roo, but when they actually get to the farm they instantly fall in love and become completely calm.
And I was like you bama! I had EVERYTHING for Roo this year, although I'll admit I overpacked a bit. Everytime someone needed something, I already had what they needed in my hand. I was also the pharmacy, every ache, pain, rash, and any other wound you can think of, was healed thanks to my huge first aid kit.

i brought myself as a rookie:D besides me there was one guy friend and one girl friend who had never been. we were in good company though. we were with two people who had been every year since 04, one who had been every year but one since 04, maybe 3 people who went the past 3 years before 08, and i think a few people who had been 1 or 2 times.
i hope there is this many people going again this year, that is what makes it fun for me.
This past year there were 4 rookies in our camp. I think 2 will go back. The year before I'm not really sure. I feel like 14 people total with only 2 vets. I felt like a camp counselor. I figured all I needed was a whistle.
06, we were all first timers (4 of us). 07, there were 6 first timers, along with the original 4. 08, there were 9 first timers, along with 2 of the original 4, and 3 returning from the previous year.
This year was almost chaotic, too much going on... all of these people were in the same camp site. I think, if we bring that many people again, we're gonna split it up.
Everyone I've ever brought to the Roo has had the time of their life. Everyone wants to go back the next year and most of them have, minus the few that just couldn't afford it.
My girlfriend and I were rookies this year and were in a group of six people (three we didn't know beforehand, only one who had been before). We quickly learned that those three were major downers and that if we stayed around them too long, they were going to ruin our experience, so we just took off... Everyday was a new experience and was just so different from the daily grind.
Now, I'm getting more and more pumped by the day waiting to get back. I need that chill weekend in my life again. I'm trying to find as many people as possible to drag along and hope that we can get a decent group of like-minded people who will just enjoy the weekend and make it an experience we won't forget.
