I didn't go in 2007, so I can't really vote for this, but it's hard for me to imagine a bigger letdown than Kanye. Just curious to get your guys' opinions.
Kanye was the worse thing that has ever happened at Bonnaroo. Easily.
i had to edit that, i had The Police at first. The Police played for more than an hour, they were on time, and they did address the crowd. Message In A Bottle and Walking On the Moon was awesome.
Kanye was just ridiculous. Nothing will ever be as terrible as that travesty. To think he graced the same stage as Tool..

I'm the opposite situation of you, jack... And I must say, I never had high hopes for Kanye so I guess by definition the Police were more disappointing. Altho I agree with Boots... this clusterfuck may have been the worst event in Roo history, as far as any performers go
so we are voting for which we thought was worse right?
the police were at least on time, and they happily addressed the audience.
if this stuff about kanye being late because of pj's set running over and not having time to set up, why hasnt kanye made more of an effort to defend himself? i went right over to kanye after sigur ros and everything looked ready to go to me. after seeing a screen that said KANYE WEST 3:15 and then waiting to see another screen that said KANYE WEST 3:30. i immediately was like 'fuck this man" and let the lights/lasers to ghostland draw me in like a tractor beam.
Man, Id only be disappointed by Kanye West's set if I left. That was a freaking fantastic set. Starting at dawn wouldve been a great idea, except they shouldve originally planned that, instead of telling everyone to get there at 2:45. Thats the only bad thing. The Kanye show was one of the absolute highlights of my Bonnaroo weekend and I'm not a Kanye fan.
I was more disappointed by The Police. I had high expectations and great memories(saw them twice back in the day) their show was mediocre to average. Kanye didn't disapoint me at all. I expected him to be an *hole and he was.
i figured kanye would do something ridiculous. the story line about crashing a spaceship on a strange planet sounded like it was written by a retarded 9 year old. i was more disappointed in the police since i had very high expectations from them.
The Police, but only b/c they were the only choice, and there were other things to do beside waiting for Kanye at the time. The Police there was nothing else to do, and when it was over, there was a lot of waiting around for the next show. (I noticed they fixed that this year with JJ and CR pre-headliner, as well as later headliner slots).
Also Visually Kanye was better than The Police were musically. I didn't really care for Kanye's music, but the production was stellar. The Police didn't bring their setup, and only used Roo's setup, which was another disappointment.
If I had the choice, I would see neither again. Not at Bonnaroo, and I certainly wouldn't pay to see either of them.

Anyone voting for the Police didn't see Kanye's show. I was there for both, and while the Police fell very flat, and clearly sounded old and unenthusiastic, Kanye was absolute garbage. Kanye was hands down the worst show I've ever seen.

I had fun at the Police, danced around, sang along to all the songs... maybe not fantastic, but I rode my buzz right into the peak of the Lips
Kanye... had no idea what to expect... and never found out cause waiting well over an hour drained me and killed the Saturday buzz... all the rest of the music was over or ending, and so I went back to camp to sleep. If I had left sooner and caught something else, I wouldn't have cared so much or posted in this poll. I guess it was my own fault
i don't buy the argument that he was not a headliner, so we shouldn't expect as much. the fact of the matter is, he was treated like a headliner. getting the first ever late night what stage act (or early morning in his case), cutting off artist such as phil lesh who used to be headliner status, and other obvious things such as being late, lack of communication...kanye was a failure.
the police were not as exciting as we had hoped, but they were on time, they communicated with the crowd (that 80000 Tennesseans comment could have happened to anyone), and did not piss off all of bonnaroo.
i don't see how the police could even get one vote here. kanye sucks. period.

strumn has a good point. I expected Kanye to suck... The Police, not so much. But I voted based on my interpretation of the question, which was "who sucked more?"

even though i expected kanye to suck, the police did 1. play on time 2. acknowledged the crowd 3. attempted to put on a really good show 4. didn't make the festival cater to their needs 5. didn't make any other bands stop playing/change their set times 6. people weren't running around shouting 'the police suck!' all weekend
The Police came on on time (or close enough) and actually put on a decent show (emphasis on decent). Kanye came on two hours late and put on the absolute worst show I've ever seen. There's no comparison

DING!DING!DING!DING!DING!DING!DING!DING!
We have a winner!
Seriously, even if you were dissapointed by the Police (and I think most of us were), Kanye took Douchebaggery to a whole new level. Kanye made the Police's set look great by comparison, not an easy feat.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
The only slightly disappointing aspect about the Police set was that it could have been a bit longer, but saying Kanye and The Police in the same sentence is a serious stretch.
The question was about disappointment in which case I'm with Mojo on The Police. I had no expectations for Kanye and didn't even try to catch his set, but I hoped that the Police could have got it together.
