I had some free time sunday morning so me and 2 friends took a mini trip over to the JD distillary (first and largest in America). It turned out to be one of the highlights of my trip. Just wondering if anyone else made the trip out that way to see it too.
Also it sucked that it was sunday because by TN state law i couldnt purchase any of their product

this is bull. If you tour a distillery on a sunday in a state with such a law, then they should add on an "optional" charge for touring and then at the end of your tour give you "free" samples.

Im with ya, i wanted to buy a bottle of single barrel, id save myself a few bucks rather than buying it when im back home. The smells there wouldve never let me go empty handed if it were any other day of the week

They can't. I've taken that tour myself. The distillery is actually in a dry county, and they had to ask for a special exemption from the state to even be able to sell their own product where they make it.
In related news... last year we took a detour into Kentucky and took the Maker's Mark tour. If I hadn't been so strapped for cash, I would've been able to dip my own bottle in wax to take home. If you're going that way, I'd recommend that tour too. There were some pretty sweet bourbon chocolates at its conclusion.
I've done the Jack Daniels Tour. The lemonade they serve at the end is wonderful.
Karma to that my friend, i needed that lemonade after a full weekend of drinking then trying to stumble my way through the whole tour dehydrated... it was all worth it in the end when i drank 3 glasses of the yellow
I see Maker's mentioned....interesting story here.....The 6th generation Master Distiller of maker's Bill Samuel's Jr. is coming in to my workplace to give a speech and presentation. We are having like a Maker's dinner where this guy is coming in and we have a set menu and stuff like that. It should be kinda cool, I didn't realize the guy was such a big wig. Apparently this guy was the one who refined the original recipe and came up with the one that is used currently.

We took the Jack Daniel's tour as well, on the way up to Manchester on Wednesday. It was a lot of fun...and educational! I never knew the difference between Kentucky Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey. Also, breathing that 140 proof whiskey out of the mellowing vats nearly knocked me over! I'm not a big drinker so I was breathing through my boyfriend's shirt, haha!
