its become the time of year where all of my friends scattered across the country all get together to hang out since most of us are located in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida it makes sense geographically, plus I think Bonnaroo offers some of the best line ups year in and year out

The ugliness of the machine is eliminated at bonnaroo. No paycheck to paycheck, shufflle bustle, no anger, no hate, no fights...just "do what you wanna do" Pancakes, Band from London, sonic forest, you wanna watch soccer? You wanna play Pacman...ohh yeah The White Stripes are playing...... I love Bonnaroo
bonnaroo was my first festival. ive been to others and they are great but bonnaroo is epic compared to the rest. plus some of my favorite musicans frequent bonnaroo. trey, ween, les, keller wsp
this year, i wasnt really planning on going to roo and was going to spend my time at the smaller fests but tool got me returning

I go for the music, and mostly just the music. Cant beat it anywhere else, but smaller fests do have the same feel, so thats not why i go, and the other activities dont mean much, since im listening to music all day. So for me its just the music, aint nothin wrong with that though. Oh yeah, the food is really good too.

I go for the music primarily, but I also go for that feeling of so many people in one place having a great time together. It is the closest thing to a Dead show that I have found, and that is the vibe I love. I also love how everyone is so openminded and even though there are rules, they are minimal

Same as already said, it keeps me and soem of my friends together still because it is really the only time of teh year we get to see eachother that much since we dont live in the same hometown anymore. Plus, great music and atmosphere for getting away from everything I dont want to think about. It also is beginning to just feel like a natural habit for me, like I have to go or something...Bonnaroo is eating me alive...
For us - it is a vacation from work, kids, responsibility - it is 5 days for us where we do not have to worry about the bills, the house, the kids our parents - nothing at all excpet having a good time, listening to music, enjoying ourselves and our friends, meeting new friends, no schedules or timetables really - just wonder and watch people, listen to good music and enjoy the most unbelievable atmosphere there is in the whole world. I mean, come on, where else could you put 80,000 to 100,000 people on 700 acres and have virtually no violence, no bad attitudes, just a love for all and love for music?
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

To quote Dudley Moore in the movie Arthur: "Isn't this fun? Isn't fun the best thing to have? Don't you wish you were me? I know I do." So there's your answer: I Bonnaroo because it's so f-ing fun.

well said suitcasemurphy! I like it because it's soooo close by and the atmosphere is just wonderfull. I get to leave everything behind except for myself, and forget about any worries. All the dragging stress from having to go along with the flow of society's massive undertoe current is gone and forgotten for 4 days! I get to be more of myself, and enjoy the best music with the best people. You know that really good feeling you get when your by yourself ( ) listining to your favorite music in your car or livingroom and just being alive and breathing is the most enjoyable thing in the world? At Bonnaroo I get to share that with thousands of people who feel the same way!! That's why I go to Roo.

Great music, great people, great atmopshpere, enjoying it with all my brothers and sisters. I have yet to see a fight in my three years of attendance. Just imagine if society took a look and learned some things from our little 4-day makeshift civilization.
man what a great question, thanks for making me take a good look at this for myself. first i agree with everything everyone else said already ;D
but mostly its real simple. i 'roo for you. all of you, everyone who's at that farm is part of what creates that indescribable feeling that touches us all in some way during those 4 days. seeing the bands & hearing the music is great...but it wouldn't be the same if i wasn't sharing it with thousands of people who weren't just listening to it, but living it, if only for a long weekend.
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

for me its all about music and people! but really thats all fests. so for me roo is truly about the music. if there was a festival with a better lineup roo weekend id go there instead. but there isnt, so ill be rooin it up!
it dosent hurt that they have the best lights of any fest ive been to. lights are neat.

I'm an old hippie who made the transition to the corporate world when I got married, bought a house, had kids, etc. I love leaving the suit and laptop behind once-a-year and being a hippie for a long weekend. It helps me put my priorities in order... Peace....
For me it's about freedom from responsibilities. I love my family and I enjoy my job and I like to walk my dogs, but for just two weekends a year I just like to be on my own and make decisions just for me. I'm a big fan of going solo to festivals..drifting from one stage to the next...napping when I want to...waiting two hours to get front and center if I choose...funnel cakes for breakfast...all with chances to meet cool folks like you.
Then, when I get home I can be a better husband, father and boss...
