So at Tiesto's show I was wandering around the outside edge of the crowd where tons of people were playing with various blinky flashy and trippy devices and one that REALLY caught my eye was some sort of device (flashlight-esque?) that shone laser light through a prism or similar lens and cast hundreds of tiny dots of green light all over the ground in clusters and patterns.
I have tried to find one on the internet in the past weeks but I have had no luck. Maybe someone here knows what I'm talking about and can help me out.
Also, let's discuss other nifty photonic playthings we experienced at Roo this year
A few of my friends had those! They got them there from some vendor in centeroo. I think they payed something around 70 dollars though which is way out of range of what i would normally spend on a rave toy. They were awesome though! You could turn the end and make kalidescope-like patterns and the laser was super bright!

this mainly goes out to the Rado bunch, specificially the Phil group, and even more specifically, Dude
Does anyone remember that crazy contraption that Dude had? I can't even remember exactly what it was, but it involved a string and flashing lights, and at one point I swore I saw the Pulse going across it...

Thanks for posting the link to buy them. Karma! I used to get these things at WalMart but they no longer carry them. The ones listed above look much more durable. Thanks.

our neighbors had the neatest toy i had ever seen! it's called the string thing. it's a thing that spits out black light sensitive string with the black light built into the handle! check it out:
this toy blew my mind sooo many times this year! definitely worth $20. my neighbors said they got theirs at party city. all you need is plenty of batteries!

I'm betting it was a galaxy wand. I found one online after i saw one at Roo a few years back. They're $50 on thinkgeek.com. You could probably find em cheaper even but thats where i ordered mine.

they're pretty cool. and i'll always rep thinkgeek. F'n LOVE that site. I got an order being 2-day shipped from there so i can get a coupla last minute things for Roo myself.
I could spend ridiculous amounts of money on that site. And sometimes do.
These pool led lightshow things are pretty sick if you cast them up into a top of a tent or a tree. Much cooler in the pool but still awesome either way
I saw people last year with neon wire all over them and i wanted it so bad but couldnt find anywhere. After doing some research i found what was called Electroluminescent wire (Just look up EL wire). They have this stuff everywhere on the internet in every different color. Websites charge like 15$ for 3 meters but go on Ebay (which you should always do) and get 3 meters for 5$. I ordered 5 blue ones for putting all around our canopys and campsite and one sound activated one for me . Heres a video
