I sold my house last week. I was bound a determined to finish my degree doing something that I really enjoy doing. I couldn't do that with the house which I intended to use as an investment property but really never worked out. In fact, I know for sure that those of you that were redirected off Exit 127 on your way to 'Roo this year actually passed by the house I owned. But now I got both lenders paid off and I cashed in an extra $1,800 which better than nothin'.
Anyhow, I got accepted to Adams State College on scholarship up in Alamosa, Colorado. I chose ASC for their Exercise Science and Human Performance degree program and also their Outdoor Adventure Programs which is extracurricular but I think would be complimentary to my mission of fitness.
The good news is that when I come back home during the summer I'm already going to be contracted nearly every day from Memorial Day weekend to the end of June working Bonnaroo! How's THAT for a summer job?!
Goin' to be leavin' at the end of August to head up to Colorado! Any of you folks that live up that way should hit me up fo' sho'! Would love to meet ya'!
Goin' to sure miss seeing that Watchtower from the interstate during the offseason at 'Roo though. I guess I get to wait 'til June like everyone else.
As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!

Shite! Man the chow in the catering tent seemed much better this year was that your doing and will the food suffer now due to your scholarly departure?
I feel (sniff) like I'm losing a son. It sounds like you have found a nice school with a good program of study. Get certified with Outward Bound too and I'm sure you could get work most anywhere (think Costa Rica).
It sounds like you were really lucky with the sale of your house, the way the economy is now.
Stay away from Colorado Springs, it's full of religious zealots and conservatives.
If you ever get homesick...well, you can find NASCAR on most any cable channel now.
Have a good time and study hard. Come back and cook us some of that good catering grub in 2009.
Whenever you drink some coffee, try and think of good ole Coffee County.

You know you will miss the Fair don't you?
Thanks man! You know, I actually haven't been to Coffee County's fair since attending middle school. It's been awhile.
Colorado Springs is actually about an hour or so north east of where I'm going to school. I think that's where the Air Force Academy is, and if ever go to Colorado Springs, it'd be to catch an Air Force football game. I spent too many years watching Middle Tennessee State try to compete in Division 1. I just like watching the game.
I got VERY lucky with the sale of my house. Not only was the house built in 1900 and needed some cosmetic work done to it, but the lady who bought it got it "as is" with cash which in turn helped me to avoid the need to have an appraisal done. Had she financed rather than pay cash, I would've had to get an appraisal and the appraiser would've likely hit me with mandatory cosmetic improvements to the house before I could sale it. So yes, I got very lucky! Not to mention that an adjustable rate mortgage was going to kick in in March of next year.
I'm relieved and excited about that trip out West! Never been to Colorado. I spent a weekend in Utah, but that's it.
And yes, I worked in the Bonnaroo kitchen that did the catered meals for the staff workers and VIPs, and I'll be back next year spending even more time working with Spectrum Catering during the whole month of June.

Seriously, the food is good in the catering tent. Steaks and shrimp and really good green beans. Chicken marsala. My favorite is the breakfast though....so much to choose from. Sometimes you hear people gripe but people will gripe about anything.
That is pretty sweet that you get to work for a month. I only work in Site-Ops for two weeks but the pay is...well more than I make teaching and they feed me.
