Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
from what i've read on the rothbury forum is that its better than roo. some think vip wasn't worth it. after seeing the pics from sherwood forest and the general location im seriously thinking about going to roth instead of roo, if not both.
Jealous as well. The pictures of the campsites and the forest with all the lights and decorations look so beautiful. Plus with only 30,000-40,000 people there, I bet there was enough room for everybody.

Yeah, I've looked through the pics and I gotta say it looks like an absolutely BEAUTIFUL place. Love the fact that there are trees (=shade) everywhere--everything just looks like it was designed with nature in mind.
I found out after I sent in my volunteer deposit for Bonnaroo that I had also been accepted as a Rothbury volunteer, but unfortunately I only had the time/money for one fest this summer, so Bonnaroo won--and while I wouldn't trade my Roo experience for anything, I truly feel I missed out on Rothbury and I will not make the same mistake next year (granted, this is all line-up dependent. . . . meaning--whichever one has MMJ--I'm there. . . .).
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...

I don't know if anyone's gonna have MMJ next year. Looks like they might be taking a break for Jimmy James to record and tour with Monsters of Folk and to do his own alter-ego album recording. Moral of the story......get the MMJ while the gettin's good, cause you might not get it again for awhile.
the lineup for roth blew bonnaroo out of the water
The lineup was the only thing that sold me on Roo this year.
The Roth lineup was NOT my cup of tea as a whole -- plenty of awesome sh*t, but it came down to the amount of music that I wanted to see at Roo, versus Roth or any other fest. Looks like Roth was an absolute blast though -- glad to hear everyone had such a great time!! ;D
I might have to organize some peeps to share VIP cabins with me next year, line-up and pocketbook willing. This festival looks AMAZING! And the timing is perfect for work. I'm still staying true to my Roo, though. It holds a special place in my heart...and is about 5 hours closer than Rothbury. lol

I guess if you're really into jambands, that's true. The whole set-up for Rothbury looked really cool, but for me, I don't think there were more than two or three bands there that I would've cared about seeing. If they add more diversity to the lineup next year I'd be keen on attending.

the first time i saw the roth lineup i about hyperventilated. i had to go about 3/4 of the way down the lineup before i saw a band that i DIDN'T want to see, or that i didn't at least know.
i think the smaller crowd would have been cool, too. roo will be on the backburner next year i believe.
rothbury was the most amazing thing I've ever attended. It blew Bonnaroo out of the water, I'm afraid to say. The woods, the way the stages were set up, everything....it was just perfect. The weather was fantastic, there were less people, the bands rocked out, there were very few places you couldn't see the stages from. I could go on for hours, and hours about how awesome this festival was.
I don't understand the whole notion of having to compare everything to something. Can't people just enjoy things in their own right? Every festival I've ever attended (and I've been to a lot) has its pros and cons...and those vary according to the individual.

Are you for hire? Seriously. I need you around. You make things make sense.

I'm not really into jambands, and I preferred the Rothbury lineup to the Roo lineup.

While I agree with you in principle, a lot of people have to decide which festivals they want to go, which means they have to compare them.
Also, I think comparing one experience we have with another experience we have helps us to decide if we want to continue having either or both experience.
I've pretty much made up my mind about Roo at this point, but if I was on the fence, and I heard people who had been to both say that they enjoyed one much more than the other, that would be a factor in making my decision . . . not the only factor, of course, but a helpful one nonetheless.

Man, I really wish I could have made it to Rothbury this year! Its definitely going to be a toss up next summer, since I can't do both. I almost think if Rothbury has a killer lineup (assuming its even still around, from all the speculation here) I might sacrifice my beloved Roo to try something new. I'm also crossing my fingers that my spring break will coincide with Langerado next year... I'm ready to festy diversify! ;D
