After last season, I didn't think I'd want to watch, but it seems like they may have learned a lesson. There appears to be a lot more variety in the cast this year. Also, one of the contestants is 75, so I'll at least need to check him out!
I've been watching this season's BB UK and BB Australia on YouTube, and while both are funny (and very different than ours), I can't wait for our new season.
I too think they did learn a lesson, but I just watched a sneak peak of the new house and there were two HOH robes in the HOH bathroom. I really hope they don't plan to pair people up again.

No, that was really dumb! I wonder if maybe they are going to have 2 HOHs. That would be better than pairing everyone up, but I'd still rather they have just one.
I think they will pair up the complete opposites. IE:the conservative and the gay, ect. Yea, it's kinda lame. But we can entertain ourselves by betting on how long it will take this years lame twist to go bust!

LOL, like how everybody saw it coming that they would be split up within a few weeks last season?
I really hope they don't pair anyone up. There are 13 of them starting out, so if they do, either someone will be the odd man out or will go home immediately.
And parminoke, if you think these people seem dull and tame, you should have seen last season's cast. It was pretty much like having 14 copies of the same person in the house.
For some reason, I can't really get into Big Brother anymore. I was into it like the first 3 seasons. Now I can't really stand it, especially with all these lame twists and stuff. Thats just my honest opinion though.

I totally understand. We started watching with the 2nd season (because my b/f loved Nicole and hated Dr. Will, but by the time it was over, we were definitely rooting for Will!), and we were completely hooked for the next couple of seasons. But, starting with the season where everyone had someone they knew outside of the house (the one with Cappy (wanted to kill that guy) and Kaysar (was so disappointed when he went out the first time, but I thought he deserved it the second time cuz he screwed up so bad) and April and Howie, etc.), it REALLY started going downhill.
The season before last, with EvelDick, was okay, but really only because of D!ck (it really irritates me that I have to censor someone's name in order to get it to show up on here). He was, by far, the best player since Evil Dr. Will (all the best players are evil, right?), and he was probably actually better than Will.
Last season was the absolute worst! I hated everybody on the show, with the possible exception of James (and maybe Chelsea, but no), who I didn't really like, but he was the least hatable of all of them. We quit watching after James got kicked off.
So, I really wasn't sure if I was going to watch this season at all because I don't have much faith in them anymore. But, they've got a 75 year old and a 53 year old, plus 3 others who are 30 or older. Even the ones in their 20s are generally older than they have been in the past couple of seasons (25-29 rather than 21-25). It seems like they have really gone back to their roots in terms of make-up of the cast, which I think is promising.
I totally agree about the twists, and I really hope they tone it down on those this season. They have just been trying to get too cutesy, and it gets dumb. They need to just have good cast members and let them carry the show. Basically, while I'm excited and hopeful that they have learned from their mistakes, only time will tell. I'm at least going to give it a couple of weeks, but if it is just going to be the same stuff, I won't keep watching.
Oh my god, I'm such a loser. I can't believe I just wrote 40,000 words about Big Brother.
I was a little meh on the first episode...too rushed, should have run 2 hours. But, the feeds are gold so far! Anyone else feeding? Who are your early favs? Let's discuss!

I was actually pretty happy with the first episode - mainly because I was relieved that they didn't try to team anybody up or talk about how many crazy twists there were going to be this year!
I won't be getting the feeds (kind of wish I was because EvelDick is going to be doing a show during the down-time when they are doing the nomination ceremony -- but I'll probably be at work when it's on anyway), but I do have Showtime, so I will catch BBAD every now and again. My b/f probably will watch them more and keep me updated. He caught a little bit last night and told me about it when he came to bed, but I was half-asleep, so I don't remember much.
My initial take is: I'm rooting for Jerry, but I doubt he's got much chance of getting very far. I just think people are going to gang up on him. I thought it was hilarious when he felt April's boobs! ("They are very, very real.")
As of now, I think my second choice would be Steven (the gay rodeo guy). I like that he's obviously not going to hide that he's gay, but he also didn't come in talking about how he was going to "play the gay card" (a la Will on Season 5). I also like that he gave up the car without a fight even though he actually needed it (I mean, really, if you are looking to win, do you want to win a car on the first night? People aren't going to forget that! And you can buy a car with your $500,000!).
I'm not crazy about Memphis. Mixologist? Dude, you're a bartender. There isn't anything wrong with that. (If someone wants to explain to me the difference between a bartender and mixologist, I'll gladly take this statement back! .
Don't like Dan. First, in his bio, it says that if Hillary Clinton had been nominated, he would have moved out of the country. Second, he basically said in his intro, "I'm a Christian, but I fully intend to go in the house and do things that are very un-Christian, but it's okay because I can go to confession later." I understand you can have your sins absolved by confessing him, but it doesn't seem like it should count if you plan them out knowing you can confess them later. But, whatever. Anyway, third, I hate that he, Brian, and Ollie tried to go in and get an alliance going on the first night. Did these people not watch and/or learn from the old seasons. Alliances formed right away are rarely successful.
I think Michelle is going to be obnoxious. She pretty much said she was going to be in her intro!
I can't stand Renny! (BTW, boy, did they pretty her up for her picture! She doesn't look like that at all!) I would probably last about 12 minutes in a house with her (but I kinda hope she stays because she will cause more drama and I don't like Jessie either (he's way to impressed with his own physique! Did you notice him flexing his pecs during the nomination ceremony?)-- although I think Josh said last night that Jessie won POV and took himself off)!
