I just got and ipod today so I am no ipod expert. However, I do make a living as a video expert. What I can tell you is that as long as the disc isn't copy protected it should be simple since a DVD is MPEG2 which ipods are compatible with. I'll ask around at work and see what I can find out. Are you running mac or pc on your computer?

Try googling "DVD to ipod". It will give you some "answers". How good I don't know, but I can't promise quick results so that might help you out faster. Nonetheless I will do what I can. It's not a good few days for side projects for me, but I can ask questions of people I know via email. Good luck, and I'll try my best to help.
This is not a copy protected DVD I assume, correct?

OK here's what I've got. I asked a coworker who deals exclusively with consumer video about using movie maker. I deal exclusively with professional so this is not I only know how to do this with super expensive software. Which I would gladly just do for you if we were not in MI and NY respectively. Anyway in response to my movie maker question he had this to say:
"The “proper” way: Windows Movie Maker won’t import from DVD’s at all. Use Pinnacle Studio or similar inexpensive program. I’ve used Studio to pull video from finalized DVDs out of our camcorders, edit the footage, and output it to iPod. These programs generally won’t work with copy-protected movies.
The “pirate” way…yarrgh. I haven’t tried it, but here’s a free method. It requires downloading and using 2 small programs. From the looks of the walkthrough, it will do whole copy-protected movies if you want. www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod//guide/dvd-to-ipod/"
The links to the converters are on the right side of the screen. They are free. I've never tried this. (I have no reason to running pro software.) Let me know if it works. PM me if you have any trouble.
