Start speculating! Who do you want to see collaborate at SuperJam in 09?
Mine...
"Monsters of Folk" featuring Jim James, Conor Oberst, and M. Ward. They're actually all working together to put out a CD and they've toured together before. They have a backlist of covers that they've performed live, and they're all ten-times bigger now than they were when they last toured together in '04.
On top of that... they're all friendly to collaborations. I can name tons of artists who they've played with individually before... Jenny Lewis, Ben Gibbard, Dntel, the Album Leaf, Calexico, Zooey Deschanel. You could easily find out "folk-rockers" to bring out during the set.
Either that, or get ?uestlove on the phone, ask him to put together a hip-hop Superjam: a rotating cast of MCs and DJs, backed by the Roots.
That is a money idea. Maybe they could do this separate from the normal superjam, sort of like what they did this year with the N.O. jam. Altho with ?uestlove and the type of guests he would bring out, i'm sure it would draw enough people to be THE superjam.
Omar and Cedric with John Frusciante and Flea. I think Frusciante worked with TMV on some of their tracks.
That he most certainly did. He plays on almost every track on Amputechture Flea also played bass on a majority of De-loused. Omar Rodríguez-López also plays on the latest Chili Peppers album.
