I really like his older stuff, and he puts on a very fun show with a lot of theatrics... but that doesn't mean I want to see him at Bonnaroo. I'd definitely like to see him at Rock the Bells or Lolla (which has had a big name hip-hop act almost every year), but not on the farm.
One of the single most disgustingly overrated artists of all time. I hate anything and everything I've ever heard by him. So, you hate your mom and your wife? Boo quacking hoo. Go buy some Prozac

I like a lot of his stuff... just not sure what it would be like in a live setting.
If you're a fan of his music, Eminem's live shows will not disappoint - I saw him on tour about seven years ago, and it was insane. He's always on key with the music, but his theatrics are what really tie the whole thing together, IMO. For instance, when I saw him, he came up through the floor on a rising platform thingy, dressed in overalls and a hockey mask, with a fake chainsaw in hand. It was awesome.
But... as awesome as it was, I'd rather see him at his own show, instead of Bonnaroo.
i can imagine what a bunch of spun wooks would be thinking if eminem got a late night in the other tent... wander over from the silent disco to see that??
i bet he'd actually bust out a pretty tight D12 set "i've climbed the mushroom mountain, once or twice but who's countin, but nothing comes close to these green and yellow purple pillz"
i'm imagining a set up similar to Jack black's in Pick of Destiny on second thought... just book the D

I love 'em. I wish they'd come out with a new album already, though.
Actually got to meet Jables and Rage Kage a few years back. KG was quiet, but Jack Black (who had clearly been nomming something fierce) was hilarious. I went to slap his hand, but I missed and my pinky just grazed his hand... so he said "whoa whoa whoa, my hombre... let's try that again - in SLOW MOTION!". Then he made some really exaggerated, goofy facial expression and moved his hand incredibly slowly towards mine.

I am the one and only maybe vote thus far. I'm not sure that I would be in the mind set for him at roo, but if he played I would definitely check him out and not complain that he was booked. Could be fun.

You say you hate anything and everything you've ever heard, but it's so clear that you haven't heard much. So much of his stuff his not about his wife or his mother. Regardless of how his critics respond (the race card, the hatred-fueled lyrics, the gay-bashing, etc. etc.), he is by far, hands down, unquestionably one of the greatest lyricists hip hop has ever seen. He's at his finest on his first three albums, Infinite, The Slim Shady LP, and The Marshall Mathers LP. Go ahead, give me 3 hip hop artists with better lyrical talent and/or wordplay than Eminem: I don't think you can do it.
It's a shame he's white: if he was black, he'd UNQUESTIONABLY be in the discussion as the G.O.A.T.
EDIT: That said, no, he probably doesn't belong at Bonnaroo.

Common, Andre 3K, Jay-Z, Black Thought, and many more. I'll be honest, Eminem's not bad. He's clever and all, but he's by no means the messiah of hip hop lyricists. White, black, it's irrelevant. The man is a prick, and goes completely against the morale and good vibes of the roo.

No, no, MAYBE, and no.
I don't know him personally, and I'd go out on a limb and say you don't either. I'm not saying he's a good guy, just that I don't know. And he wouldn't be the first (or last) prick to play Roo.
Either way though, no, he probably shouldn't be at the Roo, I don't think it would work well. That's not to take anything away from his live performances though, which as others have mentioned, are phenomenal. I caught him on the Anger Management tour at Jones Beah, great show.
before he put out The Eminem Show, i may have said maybe. now it is a definite no. i say we bring Dr. Dre to the farm. his final studio album is speculated to come out next year.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
im not even going to vote this ones so silly. although it wouldnt surprise me if superfly had him. anythings possible now a days at roo.
oh and can we please not call eminem hip hop?? hes rap, gangsta rap, pop rap, radio rap, mtv rap, crap rap, any and all of the above..... he is NOT hip hop to me hip hop is a whole differnt thing. its not someone spewing lyrics about b!tches, guns, murder, and saying the n word all the time, not that eminem does but most rappers arent white and therefore do use the word alot. hip hop artists dont so much. its more about originality instead of just putting some catchy lyrics about hoes and gats over the same beats as 5 other songs in the top 10 on kasey kasem or ryan secrest or whatever idiot they got doing that crap now. and i know it sounds insane. but some of these hip hop groups that arent on rap city and yo mtv raps actually play instruments and make music!! some even have a positive message and dont have an ego 5 million times the size of their talent. how insane is that??

This. And my picks would be: Saul Williams, Common, and the guys from J5. And I completely agree with the white, black, it's irrelevant thing. I read an article once that said TV On The Radio wouldn't get as much attention and acclaim if they were white, which I wholeheartedly disagree with. They get acclaim because they kick ass, regardless of their race.

exactly. i dj on occasion, and when i organize my music, i have a crate labeled "Hip Hop" and another "Hip Pop". if you ever call anything in the hip pop crate hip hop, u will get a glare from hell.

Common really isn't that incredible lyrically. He's positive and all, but that doesn't make him a great lyricist. Saul Williams? Try again. The guys from J5 I can consider, but probably not better overall wordplay than Em.
I'm sorry, but Em's metaphors and wordplay are simply some of the best I've ever heard.

If you think all of Em's rhymes are about "b!tches, guns, murder, and [the n word]", you simply haven't listened to very much Em. I'll say it again, grab Infinite and The Underground Collection, and if you still don't have the utmost respect for Em as a lyricist, I really don't know what to say.
your right i havent listenend to much "em" (lol at the thought of a serious discussion about eminem playing roo and him lovingly being refered to as "em")
i have had to hear some eminem. i do live on earth. and funny enough the last time i was forced to hear it for any length of time was at roo when the people a couple of sites down were playing it for hours... oh the joy of diversity! i would love to have him do the skit where him and his daughter take her dead mom to the pier and drag her to throw her in the ocean, or beating and locking someone in a trunk and driving it into a river. that would be splendid... maybe he can have a toilet on stage and he can sit on it and play with his gun... and the song about jacking off to mary kate and ashley at the theater would have been top drawer this year.

Saul Williams? Try again
Have you heard The Invevitable Rise And Liberation of Niggy Tardust? Or read any of his poetry? Williams could knock Mathers out of the ballpark any day
