I've been thinking of who can fill the heavy headliner slot of bonnaroo continues in that direction. I know Iron Maiden is big enough to do it overseas, I'm not sure about in America though. I would love to see them though. I also thought of Pantera, but without Dimebag definitely not. Theres not very many heavy bands that can fill the slot imo.

There's no other "classic heavy" band that I personally would rather see headlining the What stage... 'cept maybe Sabbath with Ozzy, which I doubt will ever happen
If the crowd gave Maiden a chance... I think they'd all be quite pleasantly surprised in the end

^^^ I scored free tix to see VH at MSG last May... went in with low expectations on purpose, and really, they BLEW me away. They played for over 2 hours and every song was right on the money, and Wolfgang was having the time of his life jamming with his dad... that kid's definitely got some of his father's talent, can't wait to see where he goes with that as he grows up. David can't really scream the high notes anymore, so he doesn't even bother trying, but it works anyway... he also doesn't try the midair splits anymore, but he CAN still pull off the flying roundhouse kicks
All in all, based on my MSG experience, I know I would have a GREAT time Rockin' the Halen at Roo! BUT, about a year ago, I put a similar question in a thread, and it really didn't go over too well around these parts
But a sweet Iron Maiden set? Count me in. I just kind of doubt they're large enough to headline.
And, for what it's worth, they sell out the Garden EVERY time they roll through here... I only missed them last June because I was busy at Bonnaroo that night
What about NIN? Not classic, but they seemed to bring it at the Lolla.
How could I forget NIN, one of the best shows i've seen. I think they have the strongest chance to headline next year. Dream Theater late night I would take. And thats good to hear Iron Maiden is still big in the states. I know they're huge overseas, bigger than Metallica from what i hear. I don't see how people could be upset with VH, or any of these bands.

I stand corrected. I just looked up the last time they were in Chicago which was also June and they played a 20,000 person venue. I'd say thats big enough to headline roo

Actually they played Meadowlands Arena last year. My nephew wanted to go, but roo got in the way.
As far them playing at bonnaroo: I've said it before. Me say it again.
I like Iron Maiden, but I wouldn't want to see them headline Bonnaroo. I think they need to do something new instead of having another Friday night metal headliner

"Scream for me bonnaroo! Scream for me!"
Actually, no... they did play the I-Zod center at the Meadowlands in March, and then PNC Bank on 6/14... but I was talking about the MSG show on June 15
"USA June 15, 2008 New York, NY Madison Square Garden"
I think that the crowd at Rage's Lolla show might put the brakes on them playing Roo next year.
Zeppelin seems to be the perfect heavy headliner for Roo to me.
Other lesser alternatives that I could see: Soundgarden reunion, Foo Fighters, Jane's Addiction reunion and GN'R (though probably unlikely a year after the Kanye flake-out).
