I work with a friend of Gigi's.....and she is ALWAYS raving about them.....and here is a review from ANOTHER fan that was sent to me lately....really....I HAVE to check this place out and thought I'd share/poll to see if any of you had had the pleasure of a GiGi cupcake??? ;D
The views expressed below are not mine, but probably WOULD be if I could get my hands on a cupcake right about NOW! ---------------
I was out running around Saturday and was near Gigi's so you know that I to stop! (After all, I haven't been in there in a few weeks. Well, at least that's how I justified it.) That place was packed. I couldn't believe it. It's not that big in there and it seemed to be wall-to-wall people.Gigi has counters with stools around the inside of the windows. There were 4 or 5 people sitting there eating and having their coffee and milk on the side. And I counted 8 people, not including myself, standing around waiting and deciding. As I stood there, another lady came in. Every time I've been in there, I've noticed that people have a hard time trying to decide on a flavor. They have intense conversations on which flavor will be best and take forever to choose. I'm often asked, "Have you been in here before? Which is your favorite?" It's so funny. People take their cupcake flavors SERIOUSLY! I bought two to go (one for Saturday, one for Sunday) and was happy with my choices. I got to try two new flavors. It was indeed hard to decide because she also had Hunka Chunka Banana that day, as well as Bailey's Irish Cream and one of my favorites, Lemon Dream Supreme and several other flavors. What a choice! But, as you know, I'm on a quest to try all her flavors so I chose Pink Lemonade and Chocolate Malt. I ate the Pink Lemonade the first night. The wonderful frosting on it wasn't piled as high on it as the other one, but it was a beauty to behold and the taste was divine. And after eating it, I realized that the amount of frosting was just right for that particular flavor. More would have been too much. It was composed of very moist white cake, I think with a little lemon flavor, a very strong pink lemonade butter cream flavored frosting and pink sugar sprinkles. Also on top was a tiny jelly lemonade slice, as well as a tiny plastic straw. I loved it. It was sweet, citrusey and refreshing. It made me want another one. I do love her citrus flavored cupcakes. I saved my Chocolate Malt cupcake until Sunday. They really keep well in their little individual boxes. As far as chocolate ones go, so far, this is my favorite. I love some chocolate, but, as you can imagine, chocolate can sometimes be very rich. This one wasn't over the top rich. It was chocolate, yes, but light and fluffy. Gigi's description says she puts marshmallow cream in the frosting. The cake was a light, moist chocolate cake. Once again, it was so moist that it stuck to the paper cup. I had to use a fork to scrape off all the stuck parts. I wasn't going to waste any! The fluffy chocolate frosting was swirled and piled super high and it had chucks of crushed malted milk balls all over it and a whole malted milk ball on top. Oh, lordy, it was good. Writing this makes me want to go by again today!-
Oooh...sorry about the court thing....but if anything will make it better it would be one of those cupcakes! LOL!
And MMJ is tomorrow night Meggie, but I don't think I'll get there before she closes.... But I'll try to get back to Nashville before BSJ! And if I do I'll figure out a way to FedEx one to you too Chico! ;D
