LeRoi Moore 1961 - 2008 We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
Anyone who knows me understands what a ridiculous DMB fanatic I am...I went to my 28th and 29th show this summer, both right after LeRoi's accident. All anyone wanted to talk about was how long it would be until he was able to come back. It's so unbelievable to me that now it's never going to happen.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Lie in our Graves in one of my all time favorite live songs, the first time I heard it it just blew me away, it lead me to get a ticket to see my first show at G-d's Amphitheater, which eventually turned into about 10 more shows just to see you jam...watching you on stage right was simply amazing...
