Now's the time to go shopping for next years Roo camping supplies. I just picked up 3 decent shade canopies at Big Lots for $6 ea. and a battery powered air matress pump for $3. I have my shade but I figure I can bring extras for some needy persons next year (like through the 2009 Helping Hands Thread).

I think I am learning something new everyyear. This year was dont over pack for your car size or rent a bigger car or truck. The big one is buy the easy pop up canopy because the one I got had a million parts to it and didnt make it up.

I was at Walmart today and was totally thinking this! I got four solar powered lanterns for 5$ each. Hopefully they will work well. They are Coleman, so I'm pretty sure they will.
^^This is good advice, thanks! Nashville is my Roo-going headquarters and I will be back there over Thanksgiving so I might see if there are any deals at Sam's Club and the like to keep tucked away at home until next summer.
Its nice to have Inforoo, too, so I can read my posts I wrote fresh back from the farm and see what was missed this year, since right now I can't think of anything, but I know there was plenty.

and dont forget.....there is a dire need for old camping equipment for the homeless who CANNOT WORK. please feel free to contact me if you need help with any donations in the nashville area or donate to your local homeless care group!
while im at it...im going to try to organize some folks to make us of all the "left over" camping stuff at roo....stuff gets trashed that is VALUABLE to our communities. would anyone in the nashville area or anyone leaving the nashville area the day after roo consider dropping off camping supplies to our agency or to your own agency. if the stuff is left on the grass....it might as well be used by people who CANNOT HELP THEMSELVES. i know its early but......just asking.....as always.....

oh and if you live here... we can ALWAYS use jeans and mens clothing and back packs...sorry im begging for those who cant! we are a licensed agency and can give receipts for anything you donate. none of this benefits me personally in any way!

i can get a vehicle...but im wondering if i can get IN on monday or tuesday after roo to get the stuff. the car i will be in will be full but i could easily have someone come down after and pick things up....i was also hoping a couple of people might grab a few things if they live nearby.

by the way...we are going to have a huge homeless event up here in nashville soon. there will be LOTS of services available for them on that day. if you know anyone who might need services up this way please let me know!

Bonnaroo is generally a very socially responsible event. I'd email them now and see if maybe they can arrange to let you collect stuff. It would be good PR for them and they might even set up an official area inside the venue where people could drop off stuff.
