This video was played as a 9/11 'tribute' tonight at the Republican Convention. I sat with my jaw dropped the whole time, also wanting to see Keith Olbermans reaction, because i know he was going insane. Be sure to stick around at the end of the video to get his reaction.

Speaking as person who worked in Broadcast journalism for years, and was operating a TV camera in the field in NY on 9/11 I have to say this. Journalists are not supposed to editorialize. The closing comments are journalistically unethical - regardless of your opinion of the video piece. Had he spoken out in some way against the democrats the extremely biased partisan voices on this web site would be saying the same thing. That being said, there was an "agreement" that 9/11 footage not be shown any longer. I never went for for it, and when editing video I ALWAYS showed the footage if it was relevant to the story. I did this so that people wouldn't forget how horrible it all was, which many have. After all I watched it in real life. The failures of the Bush administration have caused people to become complacent about what is really happening and what has happened. The footage should be shown (perhaps not in this forum) and the pain and anger should be remembered for real - not just given lip service like has become the norm.
The ethics of the republican party using this footage as they did is not what I'm commenting on, so don't get on my case about it. Journalists who can't conduct themselves like journalists should find a new career path.
No. We can never forget. We should never forget. I don't think the images should be locked away. I hate the fact that, in SpiderMan for example, the towers were CGId out of the shots. You can't overcome tragedy by simply locking it away as if it never happened. BUT, I'm tired of being told how afraid I should be by the GOP. I'm tired of a jump in the Terror Alert everytime the fascists need a popularity boost. I'm tired of pointless wars driven by blatant lies. September 11th is a national tragedy, and it is used as a weapon by the hate mongerers and pharisees at the head of the GOP.
Yeah. He even gave the caveat that he was speaking as someone who lost several friends in that attack, to distinguish between the personal and the professional.
