Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Well, to my surprise our survey company was hired to do a little bit of work for the Bonnaroo site, and I got to go in and do some work there.
It's incredably different with nobody there, almost like I expected 90,000 people to be there. Anyways, they keep up the Bonnaroo arch, the fountain, and the playground year round, but it all seems so small without people standing near them.
It's kind of funny how even half a year after Bonnaroo, you can still make out the worn paths (non-gravel roads) from the regular grass, it seems we made our mark on the place =P.
I met who I assumed was the new owners of the place, or at least some of them. They stopped to talk to me, the seem like extremely nice people and very understanding.
One of our points for GPS was on a ways down the road from Bonnaroo, where, surprisingly, the port-o-potys were kept. I always figured they rented them, but nope, there they were. I estimated about 700-1000 there in a big field.
I'll be heading back down there later to do a bit more work, I might upload some photos as well. Oh yeah, Mr. T and the Dinosaur from the parade say Hi =P.

I had plans to go the Roo site a couple weekends ago to see what it's like in the off season but it rained like a beotch and we decided to go to the bar instead. I bet it's an eerie feeling with nobody there.

As for what we were surveying, to put it in non-technical terms, we set up various markers for an airial photograph to be taken. It goes beyond that quite a bit, but I'd be lieing if I said I knew 100% exactly what we were doing. We did a few other things, but another group based out of Knoxville I believe is doing the bulk of the work. However, I did hear something about doing a bit more, but I'll have to leave it at that, I'd hate to say something that wouldn't be true or wouldn't wanted to be said, you know?
Photos, I'll try to get. We took a few, all I have to do is get the camera. Maybe next time when I go I'll take a guitar and play a bit. If no one else is playing, than I'll be headlining Bonnaroo for the day xD!
And about the port-o-potys, I thought it was extremely weird too, I figured that they rented them, or if they owned it, at least rent them. if I return I'll be sure to take a picture of that as well, it made me laugh.
It's still gated and the entrance is locked if you plan on visiting, but you can drive by the place.... I don't think you'll be able to see the arch though.

For real.....that's kinda nasty. Hopefully they fully clean those things out after the festival, otherwise....ew.....
I'm sure they're cleaned nicely before the festival, they do a hell of a job keeping them maintained durring it.

I bet one of the first people in the portos will find a snake... lol.
They were in a field as well, with a bit of other things like the giant hand and I think some of the stuff usualy seen around the Solar stage. Don't know if they keep them there year round, but that's what I saw.
I'll try to get the photos by monday-tuesday, it's when I get the camera back. I think my mom uploaded a pic somewhere if I can find it...
Yes!!!! Finally information I can actually give to you guys for once!!! I have a friend who goes to school in Murfeesboro and is about to purchase a house in Nashville and I know for a fact that they rent storage spaces around the area to keep some of their Centeroo items in closed spaces for a large amount of time. I'm not exactly sure what they keep in there but they definitely have rented out spaces. As for the parade stuff I don't know if that's included in their rented space and they just started clearing out their spaces and transporting the stuff to the festival grounds for the year or not but my friends tell me that they spend good money to keep stuff in storage year around in and around Nashville. Like anybody cares but just thought I'd let you know the bizz!!!!!!!!!

That's pretty cool because it is fun to think about the aspects just far after and before Roo. They always have so much stuff there and they need to store it somewhere right? It would be cool to seep pictures of the stuff all broekn down and not being used and standing amounst 80K people.
This is the first off season that the port o's have been left in that field. Im not sure if that had something to do with the pending land deal or what, but all past years they werent left out there. ???
You can see the arch from Bushy Branch Road and with a decent camera you can get pictures. You can also see the playground from the road.
I have been out there when it is empty and yeah, it is kinda wierd. All the paths and roadways from roo still there..
You should see the site on Monday afternoon right after everyone leaves, when all the trash is still there, that is an amazing site for sure!!
