Well helllllo guys! I want to show you all something I'm very proud of. One of my courses this semester is Advanced Typography, and our first project was to make a timepiece of some sort. It could basically be whatever we wanted, so I chose to do mine about Bonnaroo (2007). It chronicles the 12 moments/experiences that stand out the most in my memory.
When I think back to 'Roo, everything is sort of a mess and I have no idea what happened when if I don't compare to the schedule, so I wanted the piece to reflect that. I ended up with this crazy, jumbly, interactive THING with bits that fold out all over. Because it's sort of interactive it's hard to show it online, so I took a ton of pictures for you guys. (BTW, the color isn't perfect in these pictures, but the background is a sandy light beige color).
This is what it looks like all folded up. That main square is 7 inches on each side, to give you an idea of scale.
And here it is completely unfolded. The square in the middle lies directly underneath the main square in the previous picture, if that makes any sense.

So, what do you guys think? Did I come even CLOSE to capturing the feeling of Bonnaroo? For what it's worth, when we did critiques my class loved it and was totally wowed by it. ;D

Yeah, it was quite hard choosing what moments to use. I ended up sort of combining some things - like the one about hanging out at Which Stage in the morning is listed as one day that I most remember it, but it sort of encompasses various times because I feel like we were at Which Stage every day in the morning sitting around playing cards and talking and stuff. And of course, condensing the road trip into one memory is slightly ridiculous when I have so many individual moments that stand out.

It ended up with an A-...so I'm happy. On the grading sheet I got full marks for the stuff like design, concept, production quality. Each category is out of 5, and I only had two categories that were marked 3 (and one is a 3+ and the other is between a 3 and a 4, apparently)...and those were typesetting (because my kerning was a bit off in places) and class participation (because I am always too quiet in critiques). So yeah, long story short, my professor was happy with it. And in the comments she wrote that she'd love to submit it to a paper company for a promotion...yay!
