I am thinking of making the trip down with a few of my friends for this years Bonnaroo. This is our senior year and we are all in the planning stages of trying to make this work out. We plan to once we leave Bonnaroo to continue our travels to California. I drive a fairly small car and was wondering if there is any policy on rooftop carriers. Anyone use one and have any experiences with having to take it off to get it searched?
never used one, but the general experience is the more elaborate the configuration and higher degree of difficulty surrounding your packed goods, the less likely there will be some detailed search of your possessions.
that said, if you are randomly selected for a thorough search, they might just pull everything out of your car off to the side of the main check in line.

Well I know I could easily get enough to last me a weekend in but with continuing the trip all the way to California im going to need alot more. I dont think I would be able to find THAT much.

I had one last year. I had it with a lock on it the guys didn't even bother to search. They didn't do much at all, looked int he console and glove box and in the trunk w.o taking stuff out...no problem. there really were not alot of dickheads looking for anything as far as I could tell. However first thing thursday they were doing intense searches, EVEN MY CIGARETTE PACK! after that it was okay though.

I used the white girl strategy last year (went with two really meek looking pretty ones) and they didn't even search. Just a "do you have any druuuuuuuuugs?"
we've always brought roof top carriers, and i recall them checking them the same as everything else. if you got stuff you're hiding- be creative, and good luck to ya
