At least pick it up and listen to The Walls are Starting to Crack. That song is actually really good. The rest just sounds plain though, still dont like it after a few listens, but I'm also still going to see them with The Dears on Monday, so hopefully they are good live.

Stylistically, it is actually much closer to Now Here is Nowhere than it is to Ten Silver Drops, so thats good...but it just feels like it was the B-Sides to Now Here is Nowhere. Its a little heavier than Ten Silver Drops too, so hopefully it will translate live well. I'll let you know how the show is.

I know this is the music review, not the show review thead, but I didnt think it was worth starting a new post. I saw TSM and The Dears last nigh at the Bluebird in Denver. All in all it was a good show.
The Dears started things off with a good set. I had no idea that there were 7 people in that band, it was crowded up there.
TSM show was very good as well, not amazing, but very good. They had a pretty cool spiderweb like rope contraption that reflected different color lights. The sound was good and their setlist was about what I expected. I would say the best song was The Walls are Starting to Crack...I know i mentioned that above, but it sounded really good live.
Bottom line is that is was a very good show worth seeing, but don't skip your brother's third wedding for it.

Thanks for the concert review. They don't come close enough for me to catch them, but I'm sure they'll come back around.
The first time I saw them is still one of the best shows I've seen. At the Shelter in Detroit which is just a big basement...about 60 people....just an hours worth of music but I was captivated every second from start to finish.

Finally bought the album last night and I really liked it. I listened to the first few songs in the car on the way home from the store and thought it was all right, but then later on at home I threw on the headphones, and unsurprisingly it made a pretty big difference. I like the 1-2 punch from the first two songs....the third song could definitely be a couple minutes shorter though. I like the more abrasive sounds that I'm assuming the new guitarist brings up against the usual SM groove. I definitely agree with the Waters comparison during the second half.
I'm glad my expectations were lowered....that probably helped. Not saying this is album of the year material or anything, but there was a lot to like for me. Interested to see what happens with repeat listens. A definite step up from 10 Silver Drops, imo.

Just got the opportunity to see them last night here in LA. I gotta say, it was a great show, the new songs really translate live fantastic. The only one I'd say they could drop though would be "The Fire Is Waiting". I'd have gladly taken two other songs off the new album over that 12 minutes of meh. Anyways, the stage set-up was hella cool, and they gave out these crazy glasses to wear for the show....acid without the acid. Very nice. I really like that what they are doing now is all DIY, no label for the album, no label backing the tour, just three guys making that sh*t happen. Gotta love it.. Go see them if they come to your town, I can't say you wouldn't be disappointed, because TSM aren't necessarily everyones cup of tea, but an awesome show nevertheless.
