Beastie Boys and Ben Harper are doing a few shows in some swing states trying to promote voting, while supporting Barak Obama. I think im goin to the dayton show. heres a link to the beastie boys site...http://www.beastieboys.com/
Got tickets this morning for the Youngstown show. I'll finally get to see the Beastie Boys! I saw DJ Hurricane at a rave about 10 years ago, but have never seen the boys.
I would have preferred to see Tenacious D over Sheryl Crow & Norah Jones, but the D is just at the shows farther west. Still, I can't complain about seeing the Beasties & Ben Harper for $43 a ticket.
The Youngstown show was pretty good. Didn't care much for Norah or Sheryl, but the show really started to get interesting when Perry Farrell came out with a surprise performance. Didn't realize he was doing techno now.
Ben Harper started his set with a cover of Under Pressure. When he and the band started playing my friend said "he better be playing a Queen song." I also learned during his set that my unborn child has good taste, my wife first felt him/her move while Ben was playing.
The Beastie Boys performed a solid set. Did plenty of songs from an array of albums, including one of my favorites, 3 MCs and 1 DJ. Ben Stiller popped up onstage, dressed in the same outfit as Adrock during Root Down. He also came out for the scream during Sabotage (played with instruments left on stage from the earlier bands).
