I was just wondering if anyone ever went with very little such as a bag and a sleeping bag and enjoyed themselves. I found myself not really needing anything I brought this year. If I had a bag with sun screen, my wallet, my keys, my phone and my money, and one change of clothes, along with a sleeping bag, a hat and a canteen that I could definitely survive. I mean I only used camp to sleep, and I hear centeroo doesn't close. I was thinking maybe sleeping in centeroo or just walking to tent only with my sleeping bag and catching some z's and with the water troughs I could just fill my canteen for drink. Is this doable?
it certainly is possible, but only if you are a mad trooper
i like to hang with the crew at camp until about 3-4 or later before heading into the centeroo... and without a shade canopy or chairs... would be a little tough
on the other hand, you could easily meet some friends to chill with...
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
It's much more realistic for someone who doesn't hang around camp a lot. I'm not at camp much and I also don't use much at camp except water and some snacks and such. But having a chair and canopy were very nice to relax in when I did hang out at camp for a while. I think it's possible though

I think it would be doable but not comfortable. A homebase is a good thing to have... Plus if the weather turns bad i.e. the sun baking every last drip of water out of you or rain of any sort (think the drizzle of Sat. AM 08 or the downpour Sunday night 06) you'll want, I'll even dare say need, shelter. Bring a tent and set up in tent only. With that, a ton of cash, and the rest of your list you could be just fine..... oh, did I mention the ton of cash? Bring that if you're not bringing any food/drink.
In '06 I sat next to a dude on the airport shuttle that had nothing more than a small backpack. I'm not sure how his weekend went, but I've heard of people showing up with pretty much nothing and still having a good time. There's always someone with some food to share or a canopy to crash under.

I bring a backpack to festies. In this backpack I have a small tent, a sleeping bag, a nalgene bottle, a tote bag, duct tape, sunscreen, TP, and minimal food such as jerky, pop tarts, and powerbars.
I survive for the most part.
I also have a heady festie crew to back me up though, as I think Boots pointed out at AllGood. That's really what you need most. Festie crews are crucial.

i tried to sleep a little bit before ghostland and i was told no one can sleep in centeroo.. now mind you i slept a LOT in centeroo but i take it yo cant sleep all night there. my guess is you could keep moving around and get by with it - but technically they might make you move.
so you can get sh**faced and gonged out of your gourd in centeroo...you can walk around naked..but no sleeping , freak!
As a female, I feel having minimal equipment is easy in some aspects. I could easily go to a fest without bringing any food or beverages. Technically, all I would have to do is go up to a guy, smile and ask for some. Of course, a fest is filled with generous, giving people but it applies to those that aren't regulars to these type of events. Going solo is great because its easy to drift one group to another, sharing their resources.
I'm new to the festy thing, but I think I could get by with the minimum by being "adopted" by a cool group of people for the weekend. This kind of happened at Gratefulfest. They fed me and supplied me with beverages. I'm sure they would've even let me sleep at their campsite if I had requested so.

this is all true, but to be honest the food we had at camp I didn't eat much of. I didn't eat much of anything, I just drank a lot of water from the troughs and alot of sobe from the sobe stand. When it rained sat night I was in an overhead canopy that was open, sleeping on an air mattress, and I really didn't mind but since the tent was there I went. I suppose it wouldn't be fun to be totally soaked though. I guess I'll modify my plan a bit. Just sleep in my car if it gets bad. I was only at camp though when I woke up, and when I went to sleep. I was tryin to grab up as much good tunage as possible and I still missed alot.

we brought an incorrectly-sized tarp for our tent, so water started bubbling up through the bottom on friday night. Fun! I slept across three tent chairs the next two nights.
I went by myself this year and packed pretty light, as I flew in and couldn't take all that much stuff. Nearly everything I brought (including my tent and sleeping bag) fit into a duffel bag. Some of the things that I brought I didn't even need, and most of it you can either make do without, or find for sale in Centeroo / from sketchy people wandering the campsites . However, I would recommend at the very least that you bring the following:
*Tent *Sleeping bag *Nalgene *Shade of some sort. You'll probably have some kind neighbors who will let you use theirs, but don't bank on it. I didn't have any this year, and I'm pretty sure I would have gotten heatstroke without them. *Sunscreen *Sunglasses *A few changes of clothes *Toothbrush, deodorant and all the usual toiletries. Just 'cause you're packing light, there's no need to be the nastiest smelling dude in your pod. *A pair of worn-in sneakers *Wallet, keys, phone, money, and all the typical things you'd probably take with you anywhere. Hell, even the phone you don't really need, especially if you're by yourself, but you should have it just in case of any sort of emergency. *A hat *A tarp *Bottled water (or, if you can deal with the well water, even better. As long as you stay hydrated somehow)
These are the things that are not just nice to have, but really essential to enjoying yourself throughout the weekend. If you plan to stay in tent only, I'd also recommend investing in one of those small red wagons. There are a few packing lists online, use your better judgment as to what you'll really need and what would just be a luxury item.
Now, if money is your major limitation, you should bring most (if not all) of your food. However, if space is the key factor, I'd recommend just buying meals in Centeroo and having a few snacks back at camp in case you get hungry. Really, I didn't even have so much as a cooler this year, but I still had one of the best weekends of my entire life. Just remember, Bonnaroo is all about what you make it.
If you want to do it really rugged, like Man vs. Wild style, you could probably survive with a spare change of clothes, a large water bottle, sunscreen and a bit of money.... but I wouldn't recommend it.

I am a living example of survival at roo with minimal equipment. Well actually I was pretty decently prepared. I just didn't have any room to set up a tent because everyone around me had already set up their tents and mine would have been on the fire safety line. So basically I wore the same clothes the whole time and just brought a blanket to lay on. I would lay under the bleachers at which stage, which is a nice place to catch up on sleep. And when they would ask me to leave I would sleep in my car. Then when it got hot in the morning I would move to the shade and sleep a little bit more. I did have water and some food too. And about $300 bucks in cash. It was quite an adventure...I only recommend it if you are ready to be a little miserable here and there.
