Jersey City Councilman Steven Lipski is No. 1 threat at Washington club
BY RICH SCHAPIRO DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Steven Lipski A drunken Jersey City councilman was arrested for urinating on a crowd of concertgoers from the balcony of a Washington nightclub, police and club sources said Saturday.
Councilman Steven Lipski was caught relieving himself onto several revelers at the 9:30 Club during a concert by a Grateful Dead [Dark Star Orchestra] tribute band Friday night, club sources said.
"He was very drunk," the source said, noting that it wasn't the first time Lipski had caused a ruckus at the popular concert venue.
"We've dealt with this man before," the source added. "He's never peed on anybody, but he gets really belligerent and drunk."
Lipski, 44, was hauled out of the club about 9:50 p.m. after staffers spotted him in the act on the concert hall's second-floor balcony and called the cops.
The crass councilman, who is serving his second term in office since getting elected in 2001, was charged with simple assault, police said.
Attempts to reach Lipski were unsuccessful Saturday night. His aide, Irina Zaki, said the councilman was in Washington Friday night, but she had no knowledge of his arrest.
They are infamous for kicking people out for no resaon. Not really sure why. They once kicked a friend of mine out for smoking (When you could smoke in there) when the band asked for a no smoking venue. They evidently put a small hand painted sign outside the venue that said it was no smoking ... He didn't see it and they threw him out. Sad.
Anyone got any stories in the way of being removed from shows? I have a few. I'm sure you folks do too.

I got one about a friend at the 930 club as a matter of fact... (I was at DSO on Sat, thank god not friday....) Anyway so we went to see Gomez, I don't know probably about 10 years ago. A friend of mine thought it would be a good idea to have some fungus before arriving. We're right up front just to the right.... It's been my experience with such substances that from time to time someone may end up spilling the beans on the ground. And so he did. All over the place. They immediately come and take him away. I don't know what happened during the time he was removed til the time the show was over. From what I remember him telling us.... He left the venue, ends up naked in the back of a really nice SUV.... How he got in there we will never know, I would never leave my doors unlocked in that neighborhood. I wish I could remember what he said happened.....
Also at DSO on Saturday, there was some older gentleman laying in the middle of the street right outside the club... before the show even started. Had to be picked up in an ambulance... There was also the old guy inside with his orange glowstick who was sleeping in the back part where they have the seating... watched him kick some couple in the head while they got hot and heavy.... then they told the old guy he either needed to get up or get out.
Only time I ever got kicked out of a show was at the Electric Factory here in Philly for a MMW show. I was pretty near the front. Everyone was smoking. I lighted one up and passed it around a bit. It came back to me, and I saw a security guard coming towards me. I dropped the butt but didn't step it out. He asked me where it was, and I acted like I didn't know what he was talking about. Then he looked down and saw it still burning. DOH! So I spent the rest of the night chillin in the lot with some cool people who helped me out with some beers and other goodies. Getting kicked out of a show for such a reason seems to gain you much sympathy in the lot

A word of warning... beware the power trippin' MSG Gestapo Security Force when you are standing at your seat sipping your $8 budweiser, as you enjoy Roger Waters performing DSOTM, and doing NOTHING wrong... BUT the crazybitch 5 rows in front of you for some reason THINKS you are, and her WORD is apparently better than any ACTUAL evidence, OR the word of ANY of the many other people standing around you...
We compiled a list this year of all the shows I have been kicked out of / slept through (this happens alot to be honest).
Of that list the two that I was the most sad about was sleeping through Lungfish and getting kicked out of Royal Trux for screaming (they) "were not a punk rock band to play some fucking punk rock songs." They stopped playing and refuse to do so anymore till I was removed.
15 years after the fact I would like to say that statement is complete and utter B.S. Royal Trux was in fact the most punk rock band ever and I was a complete and utter dumb ass.
And if by chance Neil or Jennifer is reading. I'm fucking sorry.
At the Chris Cornell concert @ City Hall in NashVegas May 2007....there was an asshat that got kicked out....REAL jerk...starting fights...being a total bunghole to the ladies...just your typical Southern jerk! Well...it was at LEAST 500 degrees in the place in late May since the AC was NOT working AT ALL ...place held MAYBE 1000 totally packed...so ALL the doors were propped wide open and security was pretty laid back...so this guy snuck back in not once, not twice but FIVE times!! I give the guy credit for persistence...after the fifth time I think security just said "F*ck it....if he wants in that bad....let him stay"....I didn't care...I was inches away from Chris Cornell! ;D Now...if the dude had gotten between ME and CC...THEN....he wouldn't have been in any SHAPE to worm his way back in ANYWHERE!

a buddy of mine at the Atmosphere show got really really drunk and ended up leaning into the corner of the room. He started getting really annoying and had to leave.
another guy got kicked out for climbing up on stage multiple times
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
at the ratdog show i just attended, the guy next to me snuck into the show (weird, snuck gets flagged by firefox as a misspelling...). he said he got kicked out of lots of shows - usually for being too drunk. not exactly what i want to hear from my neighbor, but he was okay. anyway, during the first bit of the first song, the guy in front of us got booted. no clue why - i don't think he was smoking or anything....
the unexplained boots are the worst - i just don't understand them. it's a bizarre phenomenon...

never been booted myself (not bad considering i've been to over 200 shows) but a friend of mine lit up in the men's room at the agora in cleveland. boy2k paid the security guy fifty bucks and all was forgiven. still it was a bad decision to fire up in the men's room.
i've never been booted but at the umphreys show i caught in myrtle beach this past july this guy got booted for lighting up a j . i felt bad because the whole time before the show started he kept talking about how umphreys was his favorite band and how excited he was. seeing an enthusiastic fan get booted kinda made my heart sink.

I was thrown out of a Pennywise show once (I know, big loss ) The venue is well known for having awful security. The venue (the Burton Cummings Theatre, dear god I hate the Guess Who) books a lot of bigger punk-ish acts (Pennywise, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, etc.) yet the hire a bunch of juice-monkey bikers who hate the types of people that go to those types of shows.
At the Pennywise concert, I was grabbed from behind in a full nelson and dragged out of the seating area because I "threw a bottle" Welllll... they don't serve bottles at that venue, plus I was drinking rye and coke, in a plastic cup. When he got me into the concourse area, 3 other guards rushed up and each one grabbed an arm and a leg and literally opened the door with my head like they were in some fucking mob movie. I tried to file a complaint with both the venue and the police. Both of them simply said "They're security. Sure sometimes they're a little rough, but they're there to keep out the trouble makers and keep things safe". Bullshit. More people get hurt by those needle-dicked pricks than anyone else at those shows.
At a Queens of the Stone Age show there, Josh Homme stopped mid song, reamed out the guards for not allowing people to move around. When a guard argued back and continued to act like a jackass, Josh booted him in the back of the head. That was the last I've seen of that security guard, ever.

That really sucks. I say, if you're not harming anyone else, why is it their problem? I don't feel bad when I see some jerk getting booted, but someone like that doesn't deserve that.
I have only been kicked out of one show and thats Xavier Rudd and still to this day I am unsure of why I was actually kicked out.
I got kicked out of Xavier Rudd too. My incident was in St. Pete with Chef and Aly. Thankfully they didn't get the boot. My expulsion was corn related and involved an appearing out of nowhere bouncer.

mike i was with you at this show and all i remember is you were like 'ill brb.' and next thing i know im like 'wtf is he' and you got kicked out. mystery.

I agree it sucks, too, but if they don't kick him out, then he's their liability if they get busted by the cops for allowing illegal substances
Part of the reason Bonnaroo is great is everyone can do their own thing without having to worry much. I don't do much of anything, but if someone else wants to, fine by me, as long as they're not harming anybody. The worse they can do is pass out in a field and be another obstacle for me to have to look out for
Seems like the lesson to be learned from all these experiences is either light up before a show or don't light up at all
