I'm still digesting it. In a lot of ways it seems to be a much more mature sounding record and nowhere near as catchy as Appetite but I think that I'll grow into it.

Love this quote from that review...
What finally made him decide, "You know, I've weighed all my options and all their potential consequences, and I'm going with the Mexican vampire accent. This is the vision I will embrace. But only on that one line! The rest of it will just be sung like a non-dead human."

I think this album is really really fun to listen to. My expectations were about zero, I didn't have any of the much reported "anticipation". I expected it to suck, but tried a download.
I think its a blast. Better is an awesome song. The start of Street of Dreams is just so ridiculous and fun to listen to (One line of Andrew Lloyd Weber, one line of Axl Rose, then it goes into a Phish song). Its got Buckethead all over it. I love the "Last Album" angle in Klosterman's review.
Its ridiculously ambitious and bloated and scatterbrained and it rocks and Axl is one of the great vocalists.
To my huge surprise, this will be in my top ten of the year.
