Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I still Love bonnaroo, so it wont even take Phish. But if Phish is there, So will I, unless they play their own festival (which the previous article kinda discouraged??) a tour (where they play Noblesville two nights). If they only play B-roo and the Hampton shows. I'm screwed. Well not just me either. A trip to red rocks could be in store too . I love thinking about potential tours! Think about this. Phish and The Dead both playing Deer Creek for two/three/four nights!!! Sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am doing Deer Creek if they tour for sure. That and Atlanta and Bonnaroo, should be enough Phish for the Summer. I think AllGood is out though that venue can't even pretend to hold the amount of folks who would show up.
Your more than welcome to stay here on your way for a night. Then we could leave together and get a heady camp together.
I thought Rothbury had the same amount of attendees as Bonnaroo this year? Any numbers there?? I went to both, and didnt see DMB or Metallica, so I cant really tell you the most amount of people in one place. PL&F and WSP had much larger crowds (but the crowds were also very different) But I would have to say, it seemed like there were TONS of people at Pearl Jam (But not as much as the police/Tool??)
Personally, I think Both Bonnaroo and Rothbury could accommodate Phish crowds. Bonnaroo more likely, I think, because Bonnaroo was originally put together by people that did phish festivals etc. and its just easier to navigate.
Phish likes to have festies where everyone has to travel a little bit to get to the site (ie. big cypress and Maine). Rothbury is pretty far north in Michigan. Then again, there is the article where Phish says they need to not have as much individual powers with the band...??
So for me, Its still a toss up. But i love thinking about it!

^^I really think that it'd be 80k at minimum... They may even try and up it to closer to 90k to make up for the smaller crowd last year. They certainly will have no problem with whatever they decide to cap it off at.
Especially if they manage to grab The Dead along with them ;D
From what I understand Rothbury has plenty of room for growth, if they can work out the ownership issues.
that would depend on whether or not they are willing to increase numbers by 20k or more. lots of roth people hope they don't.
i still think roo is the most realistic option as far as festivals they'd play.
i'm also not sure that roth would have pockets deep enough to pay for phish.
re: all of the above roth discussion, isn't it the case that while the site itself can accomodate an additional 20k+, the rothbury people had envisioned that as a mid-long term goal, say 2-3 years out? From all that I have read before I just don't think it was in their gameplan to bump it up to bonnaroo scale after the first year, especially given all the difficulties they are currently having. And on that note, while I'm sure they are doing plenty of work behind the scenes in anticipation of a favorable resolution, how likely is it that they could pull off the same size fest as last year on a shorter/more hassled timetable AND bump up the scale of the operation at the same time, all the while things are in various kinds of legal/financial limbo?
FWIW, responding to one of the other thoughts posted above, I think that roth *would* theoretically have the pockets for Phish, simply because of the powers-that-be behind AEG, however I don't think that it would happen this year just because of the hot mess that they are already in. If they were to try for all of this (bigger fest, Phish, actually having it this year, etc.) and pull it off, though, it would be one of the biggest recoveries of any musical enterprise *ever*, IMO.
Of course, I shall defer to Clairity on all of these matters, given her eminence on the topic.

i'm a fan of pacing myself when i'm up til 8am
not to mention it's impossible to sleep past 7am, so i was up for about two days straight, got about 4 hours of sleep, and then had to drive 17hrs back to texas.

Well, yeah. If they don't tour, I'll be at Roo, but I'm assuming they are going to tour. I'd rather hit up part of the tour and do a couple other fests than go to Roo for just them and not be able to afford the other fests I want to go to.
I hear the affordability thing loud and clear sista. I figure I might be able to catch one festie and hopefully a Phish show somewhere this summer. I can't imagine Phish NOT doing a tour would certainly be a major letdown to all us phans who have been awaiting their return. Them playing Bonnaroo in theory sounds wonderful but it would seem that maybe they NEED to do their own fest just to satisfy the appetite of the hungry mob. I read the article with Gordon but who knows he does not actually state that there will be no more Phish fests ever. I'd love a fest with Phish, Dead, maybe 2-3 other acts to pass the time and break things up. 'Roo IMO tries to pack in to much so that you really miss out on a lot of acts you want to see. Frankly I feel 'Roo should cut down the amount of bands and allow acts to play longer or just have it spread out a bit more so there is not so much overlap and hard decision making. Been seeing Phish since 1987. love 'em, and look forward to their return in whatever venues they decide to play
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

if Phish at Red Rocks turns out to be true I will strongly consider popping my Red Rocks cherry with a couple night run and a trip across the country! ;D

I'll meet you there Strum, but you have to swing through Indiana and pick up Sammy first. Raging at Red Rocks sounds mighty nice.
And to the mike doesn't smoke thing: Mike can be seen smoking on a phatty bubbler in the corner of the screen on a backstage scene during Bittersweet Motel (Page's new shirt). That said, the post from oh kee pa about MTV owning roo was complete and utter BS, but I think you guys figured that out.
There are several degrees of BOGUS on that OhKeePa thread.
The guy claims to know certain things about the spring tour that his "source" could not possibly know.
I've also heard that January will be the announcement of a Phish tour but I'd not put much stock in this particular rumor.
no rumor, well the jan thing is...but early this year...straight from the boys themselves
Phish returns to the stage for three concerts at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Virginia on March 6, 7 and 8, 2009.
A limited number of tickets are available directly through Phish Tickets' online ticketing system at phish.portals.musictoday.com/ . The ticketing request period is currently underway and will end on Wednesday, October 8th at 11:59AM EST.
Tickets go on sale to the public on Saturday, October 18th at 10 AM EST and may be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at 757.671.8100, 757.872.8100 or 804.262.8100. Tickets will not be available at the venue box office and there is a two-ticket limit per show.
The band intends to announce additional touring in 2009 early next year.
When PHISH announces "additional touring" then we'll know. I guess I'm just saying to beware of any "insiders" on the OhKeePah board.
oh yeah..i know....not only do they just have asinine remarks..like mike saying roo bought my mtv...(i should have read that all the way through b4 posting) but just generaly hateful people ...always name calling and bithcing and what not....not a good vibe there in some areas....but they are entertaining from time to time
