I still don't see it being a huge issue as far as Roo selling out too quickly... but it was definitely a good decision as far as saving some bones in the tiered price levels.
I'm thinkin I need to start savin up and get me a ticket come February... 2009 is looking to be an EXCELLENT year for music!
With this ticketing system you'll know by the 28th. Either your credit card will be charged or you'll get a "so sorry" email. Then you're in with the mix of everybody else trying to get tickets. St. Louis will be MetroTix, and Deer Creek will be Live Nation. Good luck!
I guess the good news is that if I don't get Roo tickets, I did volunteer last year and previous volunteers get preference. I can imagine the vol requests are going to be CRAZY.
Also, I knew this was coming. I had a dream about the Phish tour announcement last night! Not kidding!

bama I wouldn't worry about the festival selling out within minutes or anything. I honestly fully expect them to be on sale for atleast a month before even approaching the 80k mark to be honest. And I'm sure if Phish is headlining two nights then they won't hesitate to push that number up a bit.
I just love the 'Roo-shaped hole in the tour dates....It's going down......
Yes, it is pretty isn't it?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect it to be a one day sell-out, but you never know. I would say anyone who is sure they want to go should get their tix ASAP. If you add The Dead into the mix all bets are off.

Every time I see Alpine Valley, I think of Stevie Ray. I know you can relate cause you have Texas Flood in your sig.
i think you people are overestimating the draw of these bands. sure hippies have been waiting for it and dreaming about it. but it's not like there are going to be 80,00 or even 40,000 phish/dead fans that are immediately going to buy up all the tickets. they both have tours going on before roo, the dead has been at roo before, so i don't believe it is any reason to go nuts.
haha I'm trying to convince myself to go to Roo here. If I get a ticket for Asheville there's no way I'm having the money for a ticket when they go on sale in February.
I'll be seeing them in Hampton, probably twice at Roo, and most likely again at another date or two yet to be announced if there are any more on the east coast to come.
There is a list of speculative dates that was floated very recently. Many of their favorite venues are represented. However, a comparison of both lists shows quite a few disparities. But, dates for many of those venues have not yet been announced. In case your curious about what might be, here you go…

Phish fans and Dead fans are insane. If Phish and the Dead are playing then the roo sells out in less then a week. Phish's comeback shows had over 150,000 request. Prepare yourself for the madness. The Dead is pretty much the same. There are few bands that have a die hard following as Phish. GET YOUR TIX!
Also, Phish does their own festival and draws 80K. Add in 149 other great bands and there is your quick sell out.
ya i think people forget that roo is more then phish. a phish fest might take a month or 2 to sell 80k tickets. but throw in the dead, umphreys, bisco, and all the other bands on the lineup and i bet it sells out quickly. but im still not convinced that its actually going to happen. i wont believe it until i see it on bonnaroo.com but i guess i should prepare to chop of an arm and a leg for superfly in case it does happen.

Yeah, but a lot of Phish fans claim to hate the Roo (for some stupid arbitrary reason). We'll see. I'm in, so what do I care?

I was wondering how long that it would take for an entirely phish festie would sell out.
But your right. Phish plus 120 other bands. Its over, even if no members of the dead are there (this would make it the first year that ever happened).

ya well im one of those seriously displeased with roo and superfly. and i know dozens of people who swore they would never go back to roo and never give superfly a penny. and right now every one of us is saving money for tickets in case it happens... it dosent make me any happier with roo and it makes me unhappy with phish. but it is what it is and i wouldnt miss it. i think most feel the same way

thats exactly right. It is what it is. But Phish and The Dead created bonnaroo, the people that put on Phish's festivals, to The Dead creating the scene for the past forty years. I can see why they would want to be a part of the biggest music festival in the U.S.. You have probably read the article the mr. miner wrote on www.phishthoughts.com, but he is rather convincing. But there will always be those people to throw around the words "sell outs" at Phish. But its okay because after all, it is Phish. And they can do just about anything they want touring wise. They could have announced the hampton shows and said thats a rap. but they didnt, so I am very pleased and hope I can score me some tickets before they go on sale to the general public on Jan 30th.
