Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream
well i hesitate to call phish sell outs for playing roo. although it displeases me greatly and i think they should just throw their own fest i understand not wanting to deal with all the hassles that go along with the way phishdid things before. they just want to play music it seems. and im sure make some money. and the only way to avoid all the hassles is to deal with superfly and clearchannel and such. im not too happy with the dead tour either. seems like they are playing alot of huge commercial venues and thats it. im sure part of it is money and part they just want to play for as many people as they can in the limited shows they have left. but adding roo (if phish plays too ) rothbury, all good, 10klf, gotv, and echo project would make the tour seem unimportant.
Looks like a trip through ashville on the way to Roo!
You and everyone else.
LOL!
That ticket will be tougher than Hampton!
The arena only seats 7K and it's the ONLY show in the southeast.
yeah no kidding. asheville capacity is like what 7,000. and i think fox theatre is like 5,000. im worried about getting tickets to the comcast center which is like max cap. of 20,000.

yes, lets talk about venue seating. i know st. louis'f fox is small, asheville. but what about the two in NY? I know alpine can hold 40 k and noblesville around like 30k i think?
i'm just going to hold out for bonnaroo... already have my ticket. it seems more than likely at this point they'll be there, and personally two nights of phish at a festie is enough for me. but i'll be kicking and screaming if phish isnt on the bill and i didnt get tickets for their tour. i play things a little close to the chest, but i dont know if this is considered close to the chest.

Yeah - in fact, I'd say 20,000 might even be a high estimate. I saw Radiohead there in August, I remember there seemed to be roughly 12,500 actual seats, plus about 3,000 on the lawn and maybe 1,500 or so in the pit. (EDIT: I just looked it up - you were right, I was wrong - it holds 19,900 people)
The Comcast Center is one of my favorite venues around Boston though, a nice outdoor arena that's perfect for summertime shows. The only bad thing is that traffic's always an Ann Coulter getting down there. It's normally a 30 minute drive from my house, but the last time I went there, it was well over two hours of bumper to bumper traffic.
I'm surprised they're booking such small venues. I suppose it makes for more intimate shows for those who get tickets, but there will also be a lot of hardcore phans who will get shut out. This can't be all the shows, though - only 2 weeks and 10 shows? (but with a nice big gap between Asheville and St. Louis ;D).
Also, last question - do you guys think they will do another Phish festival?

im hoping they dont sell out before May, because if they last that long i can justify buying one as a BDAY gift to myself.
AFAIK though they havent announced a sellout until just a few weeks before the actual even so hopefully they stay with that this year even if it is the dead and phish.

someday you'll understand that music is an INDUSTRY that needs to make a profit to sustain itself. Your favorite hippy jambands are no exception.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
But what about with the announcement of a Phish summer tour? Wouldn't that make the people who would travel hours on hours to see Phish less apt to buying a ticket to Bonnaroo?
^ People are guessing tickets to a regular show (like, say, Asheville) would cost upwards of a couple hundred dollars, depending on availability.
For almost 300 dollars, you get two full Phish performances, presumably headlining shows... it's just an obviously better deal.
The thing is, are there Phish fans that would go to a festival just to... oh wait, the are Phish fans I'm talking about. They ARE (for a large part) festival goers, whether it be casual or hardcore.
So, yeah, I'd expect ticket sales to take off REALLY quickly after the imminent announcement.

I put in a request for Asheville today. tix are $50 plus fees.
I think Phish will cause Bonnaroo to sell out quicker than it ever has. I think the earliest it's ever sold out was just a couple weeks before the fest. With Phish, there's no telling, but I'm confident it WILL sell out. Which sucks, because I've already bought my ticket but my buddies always wait until a week or two before.
Yeah I see no reason why tics would not sell out within a week or so. No question that festies are the best deal dollar for dollar-wise on seeing lots of music. And yes Phish will most certainly play 2 FULL shows maybe a headline night and a late-night like Phil last year I'd expect so with that you'd get a real good dose of the boys from Vermont. On the other hand, many people would rather see the band in a smaller setting (certainly I am amoung that crowd) where you might actually get to SEE them without being crushed by 50,000 people. Granted this being their comeback tour tics for these smaller venues will be next to impossible to obtain. Also to further play the devil's advocate the conditions of 'roo (heat, dry, crowds) might deter some of the older and even younger heads from the fest. I know it was a big concern of mine going to 'roo for the first time shitty time of year in TN for a fest. Although I dread the heat I can not see missing out on seeing Phish at Bonnaroo probably my only chance to catch them on this tour due to where I live and my limited time for shows, not like the old days....ah to be young again....hell I'd settle for 30's
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

I'm sure there will be quite a few people traveling from the west coast to see Phish. But hopefully there will be a west coast tour announced and that will deter a number of people from coming (especially if they play red rocks and the gorge for 2 or 3 night runs.

I guess I should say, when/if they sell out for these shows, people would then be scalping them for up to a couple hundred dollars.
But I don't know, the demand could be under our expectations... but I doubt it.

they went in like 2 weeks in '02, pretty sure they capped it at like 70k though
first of all to reply to jack324. im not concerned about the parking/traffic cause i plan on getting there before the lot officially opens and plus waiting in line to park for phish is always entertaining especially when you've got your school buses packed full of die hard roadies and your freesbie games and heckling and roadside grilling going on. it'll be a blast no matter what the circumstances are if it's phish. secondly, i don't think theyll make the max cap. bigger this year for roo at all. they've clearly stated that they've found a decent number and they plan on sticking with it. that being said i do believe that tickets will sell out very fast this year if not the fastest ever. my prediction is tickets will be gone sometime in march. you have to take into consideration that atleast half of bonnaroo is going to sellout instantly from the 40,000 or so diehard phishheads buying tickets. and then the rest will either join for phish or for another artist. im wondering how many tickets are alloted to each tier so we can get a better look at this.

As awesome as I think that would be, I just don't see it happening. Bonnaroo has never has a 3 night headliner and I just don't see them starting now. I still think the Boss will be there as a 2nd headliner. I don't think the Dead will be at the 'Roo either this year. There just won't be room. Look for them at Rothbury or AllGood. As a native Memphian, I would love to see them (the Dead) show up at Beale Street Music Festival this year. I can dream can't I. . . .
I sure hope not. As happy as I am that all the phans are getting Phish for 2 nights 3 nights is just overkill imo. Like someone else said I highly doubt that Roo would book them for 3 nights anyways, they have to realize that everyone that goes to Roo isnt a die hard Phish fan.
