yep and with Phish there, there is no excuse not to go!
I just booked my flight to Jones Beach and Great Woods!! I'm so glad I have Roo tix already. Planning to do 9 shows this summer, it helps to have 2 of those shows already locked in and paid for. I mail ordered the whole tour. If they fill the whole order, it will be difficult to convince myself to skip Camden, Asheville and Star Lake.
scottygaga Posted: 01/10/09 4:06PM ET Just got off the phone with a friend who works in the music industry. He had some very interesting info to divulge. He has told me that Phish is playing Bonnaroo Saturday night from 12-4AM and closing the Roo Sunday night. The kicker is that everyone that enters the roo grounds will be receiving 3D glasses and that Phish's Sunday night set will be broadcast in 3D on the Bonnaroo premises. Not sure how the whole 3D thing will work but thay plan on doing something using 3D glasses. I imagine they will try to make the jam interactive with the images that come off The 3D screen. I know this sounds completely ridiculous and far fetched but this is just what i have been told. I'm not sure if I even believe it but this what i have been told is going down. Discuss...

As ridiculous as it may sound, my friend was talking to me about almost the same thing last week about The Hampton Reunion to be broadcast in theatres....and then some shizz about 3D something......but lets hope its real

If only this were true. The more likely Phish looks to be at Bonnaroo, the less likely it looks that I will be. My wife and I simply don't have the money this year. It'll be my first Bonnaroo missed in six years. I'm not feeling too great right now.
Sorry to throw a wet blanket on this thread, I just needed to say something. It's gonna be such an excellent party for the rest of you.

But now I think I got a job and first paycheck is 100% Roo ticket and funds

So, if this is true, are we thinking:
Friday: Bruce Saturday: The Dead >Phish Sunday: Phish

I am really skeptical of posts that are like, "My friend said such and such" or whatever...I know it gets me smited, but I just refuse to believe it until I hear it from the horse's mouth...

This is the first I've hear of this and I lurk quite a few boards. But the thing is that I would not be surprised at all if Phish was trying to pull out some crazy visual delight for us. They're pretty much world renown for there light setup. One of the most expensive ever used in history. And the guy who does there lights has won numerous awards just for doing a light show at a concert. I was already looking forward to seeing that intense light setup at the Roo but this would just blow my mind. Also I still disagree with a 12-4am Saturday night. I just strongly don't think it's gonna happen. I truly believe that it's gonna be the headline spot both nights. But only time will tell. And honestly I don't care at all whichever happens I'm just happy to see Phish. A late night set would be cool tho. Knowing Phish it'd be a midnight to sunrise set maybe to celebrate the upcoming anniversary of Big Cypress? SUnday night would be off the hook as well but only if they let them play later than the curfew.
"Disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue. It is through disobedience and rebellion that progress has been made." Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900), The Soul of Man Under Socialism
"You're either on the bus or off the bus." Ken Kesey
"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
I think it is far more likely that Phish close Bonnaroo than play Friday.
In the history of Bonnaroo, every band that has closed the festival has been a jamband. Panic (thrice), Trey (twice), The Dead (once), and Phil Lesh and Friends (once).

^^^It's always been easy to predict, and for a double-headliner they will say so. Friday is the least jam-oriented artist, Sunday is the most, and Saturday is simply the biggest artist. If they announce (my prediction):
Phish (2 nights!) Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band
then we'll can deduce that the Boss will be on Friday and Phish will be Sat and Sun. But in addition, if Phish happens to play some other spot like a late night, they will probably announce it up front as they have been known to do (Trey in '05). So regardless of how Phish is announced, we'll know right away what they are going to do come June.

Honestly, my friends and I always counted on Panic closing on Sunday so that we could leave early and miss traffic. I would think they would want a Sunday closer that would encourage a portion of the Bonnaroo population to leave, thus reducing outflow at peak times. Phish isn't that band... Bruce is. My guess would be a Bruce closer. Granted, I wouldn't leave early either way, but there is always an outflux of people on Sunday and the schedule always seems geared to making that happen. Phish would keep the vast majority there until the end.

I'm sorry, but you are kidding yourself if you think this. Last year, Superfly booked Panic to headline sunday specifically so that they could pick up their sagging ticket sales. Bonnaroo is in tennessee, the heart of panic country.
just because you and your friends want to leave early to skip Panic does not mean that Superfly wants people to skip the headliner on sunday.
Leaving Bonnaroo is easy. Has been for 4 years now. Other than the first year, I have NEVER waited in line to get out monday morning. As a matter of fact, other than the first year, I haven't even had cars in front of me leaving on monday.
Phish will close sunday. It is in superfly's best interests to keep everybody on the farm until the last keg of beer has been tapped. The more people in the venue sunday night, the more they make in concessions.
