just another thread to add on to disappointment if phish is not on the lineup. thought this thread would help out people who are trying to get into Phish but overwhelmed by their massive library. i started with the studio cds and worked my way to live phish series.
My pick 3 are Junta, A Picture of Nectar, and Story of the Ghost, but gee golly i like them all (mostly)
Farmhouse and Billy Breathes are the only two I have ever obtained. Farmhouse was better if I remember correctly, but I really don't remember much since it was high school...
Maybe I'm misinformed, but as someone who's rather uninitiated with Phish, I've opted to go to the bootlegs instead of the albums to get warmed up to them.
So far, so good, though. I shall give some albums a shot, next.
i would definately say that you cannot really only listen to the studio cds and say you understand and know phish. by voting for a favorite studio cd, i am simply saying which has the best collection of songs. the live phish series is where its at though. for me at least.

I'm sure everybody has their own ideas, but I would suggest A Live One and Junta for live and studio respectively. Billy Breathes is also a must have since it marked a different direction that all of their future albums would take. Just one studio album doesn't give a good indication of their sound, IMO. But really, no studio album gives a good indication of their sound lol
