Okay i'm gonna do my best to describe the situation and would love to know what you think my best option is as far as buying a ticket.......
My boyfriend has an artist pass because he is playing bonnaroo...we will be sharing a tent and obviously I don't have an artist pass. A friend of mine is also wanting to go and share the tent with us as well. I heard that VIP tickets can get into the artist area but not vice versa....regular tickets can't get into the artist area....
Sooo.....should I get VIP ticket with my friend and then we go and sleep in the artist area since he can't come into VIP? Get regular passes and we all just camp in the regular camping? I don't know the perks of an artist pass. Or maybe rent an RV and get the regular ticket and spend about the same about of money? I'm so very confused!!!!!
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

My fiance is in the industry also and he can always get back stage passes, or guest passes for whoever he wants to hang out with him no matter what band or venue. So I can't imagine they would not let someone who is actually playing have the same kind of priviledge at Roo. Lots of the artists have their significant others, and friends or family with them on tour.

As far as i know...you can't get into the artist area with a VIP ticket...if so maybe I'll sleep in regina spektors tent, (or lily allen) I'm not picky!

I think what has happened is that the band has given out all of their guest passes (i'm not real sure of this, but that's my assumption) because they thought I already had a ticket....so where i am now is just trying to figure out the best way to purchase a ticket so my friend and I can get to the tent with my boyfriend....600 for a VIP seems like alot of money if it isn't necessary, but I'm willing to do it.

She's THRILLED...as we all are for her...she's an extremely cool chick and a great musician...not to mention a personal friend....now back to that camping situation

just a guess here, but i'm guessing SF/AC is going to have any tickets for sale to the general public, VIP or not, that are going to be allowed access into the same areas where artists go. if i were you i'd ask my b/f to talk to his manager/agent or whoever handled the deal with SF/AC and find out what options you have.
because if they DID have tickets for sale to the general public where you could get into the artist areas half of inforoo would have probably purchased them already ;D

I can guarantee you that a VIP ticket WILL NOT get you into the artist area backstage. However, an artist pass is all-access. I am pretty sure with an artist pass they would let your boyfriend into the VIP area. I got one two years ago through a cool hook up and I could go all around backstage, have all the catered food and drinks for free and be on the main and second stage viewing decks as well as side stage at all the tents. It was sweet.
An artist pass gets you in almost nook and cranny.

Thank you for that reply....that's basically what I was looking to find out......I was told by some friends last night that artist passes couldn't get you into VIP (which didn't make any sense to me) but they were adament about it.

and if you dont want to spend vip money you could just get a normal ticket. there is no reason that he wouldnt be able to come camp with you out there. you wouldnt be able to go with him to the artist areas. but you wouldnt in vip either.
You'll be very close to Centeroo and you won't have to drop hundreds on VIP, just for the sake of convenience. As far as what types of tickets can get you into what area -- you should really contact Bonnaroo for a final verdict on that. As informative as this board can be, you really don't want to base your ability to access certain areas on what you learn here.

I've got to believe there's a system set up so that artists can bring...ahem... guests back stage, even if it's a temp pass (like a stamp or something).
Thanks Spooky. I'm mainly needing to know so that we can share our tent...
no matter where you camp he will be free to come and camp with you. you just wont be able to go with when he heads into the artist area. but his wristband will get him anywhere. so you can pretty much do whatever ya want. id say camp inforoo is where its at!
yea I would imagine an artist pass gets you anywhere, but yall should get some guest passes, thats what I get every year, that area camps right to the side of the Which stage, great spot, plus some of the cafe artists camp there, as the past two years I've camped next to two of the cafe artists camping in the guest area
I believe you get them from someone affiliated with the show, or possibly an artist, as I'm sure they give the artists a certain amount of guest passes each, but I don't know for sure.

I finally got some final clarification on this in case anyone is in the same boat as myself. My bf can go anywhere he wants with his artist pass, sharing my campsite etc. as long as he parks in the artist area and doesn't take up anybody's room in the VIP area. So we get to share all of our camping gear and hang out at my VIP site and he doesn't have to pay to get in!!
CAN"T WAIT!!!
He may buy 400 dollars worth of grilled cheese to make up for the money he's saving
