That was one of my (many) favorite episodes.
I don't think its a matter of being careful what you sign. More like being knowledgeable about what you're protesting/fighting for. All those people in that ep were complete idiots. A bunch of neo-hippies who protest because protesting lands you chicks. The whole episode mainly focused on the bullshit anti-capitalist overtones in NGOs like Green Peace.
Penn is actually one of my absolute favorite Libertarian speakers. My all-time favorite ep was the Recycling one. There had been a big anti-recycling movement in my area when I was younger and I heard alot on the issue. Seeing that episode made me smile ear to ear. Roo last year was a blast. I would be preached to about the importance of recycling plastic bottles, at which point I would rant about them wasting precious resources and polluting the environment.
The best part about that show is something they actually preach. In a nutshell, they don't want you to take anything they say at face value. They want you to go out and do your own research and form your own opinions.
New episodes should actually start airing sometime in the next week. Thanks for reminding me.

I don't have Showtime but, i've bought every season as soon as they were released. Informative and funny as hell, P & T have a knack for cutting through all of the bullshit that surrounds us everyday.... including many of my own personal beliefs. I love animals but, the PETA episode was great....and absolutely infuriating! If you haven't seen the show, you really should give it a shot. You won't be disappointed.
This is why I hang out with the people that are my friends. Whereas they may have gotten me (although I'm always hesitant to sign stuff, I've gotten into many arguments at shows before about signing crap) my friends on the other hand would have hands down definitely caught on to this thing in like 2 seconds. One of my best friends just enjoys arguing and fighting with people like this just to get them to back up what they're saying, but in order to do that you have to know what your talking about so he would have figured it out instantly. And for some reason I feel that alot of Rooers would do the same, I could be wrong, but some of the smartest people I've known were serious partyers.

I think my favorite would have to be the bottled water episode. They even managed to make me reconsider my position on gun control. (I still hate them, but I understand why it's important that the government not take them away from us.) However, a couple of the episodes last season were kinda duds. I hope they can pick the pace up this season, but there's only so much they can cover.

They are anti-religion, anti-big brother, pro-evolution, pro-first amendment.
They are coservative on some issues, liberal on others, Libertarian in all issues.
well, in the environmental crisis episode they do all they can to make out people who are conerned with the environment look like idiots, through video editing and selective interviwing you can do this on about any subject. much like they do on the many episodes i saw. they basically just pick a group and skew any real debate into a one sided, biased attack. here is a little readin
that being said, they can do whatever they want, it doesn't mean i have to like it or agree, i did find the episodes entertaining, but totally lame from an intellectual standpoint, and that's just my opinion
Reminds me of the story of some little town tha had a problem with people swimming in the local fish pond. So, they posted a sign that read "No swimming, pond contains readable levels of hydrogen" It solved the problem.

I hear ya man. I'll agree with maybe half of that. They have come under alot of scrutiny pertaining to the way they run their show. In the end, its really a matter of fighting fire with fire.
Almost every show on TV is guilty of that. It all leads back into TV stations being owned by things like Viacom, and Viacom having degrees of personal interest and not wanting to step on toes. I mean hey, Fox News is skewed or biased in any way shape or form right?
I will not at all agree with notion that they're "conservative". Penn is one of the most outspoken Libertarians in this country. A party I have grown rather fond of in recent years due in large part to listening to Penn via the radio and TV (More on the radio).
There have been 2 subjects that they have retracted their views on and even released apologetic statements on. 1) Global Warming 2) Second Hand Smoke.
Both of these are almost entirely due to the fact that there were brand spanking new studies done after the show that displayed data previously unavailable. They go by what science has to say 90% of the time.
I agree with you in the sense that as a fan of the show I'd like to see some more heated debate from the "defensive" side.
Despite some things I've seen on that show and haven't entirely agreed with, I love it. They've attacked some seriously f*cked up issues in our society, and I commend them on it. One of my favorite..... The 12 step episode. I was forced into the 12 step environment plenty of times when I was younger and a little crazier. Agree with it or not, we need more programs like this on TV.

That would be an amazing idea. I really dont know how hot P&T are on the whole scene though. I know they were never big on "hippies", so I dont know how that would effect things.
It would be awesome to see them do something on an unoccupied stage at night.

I agree 100%. Its jsut too bad that you cant watch em on basic cable instead of needing to buy those extra channels.
I enjoy "Bullshit!" but keep in mind that Penn belongs to the Cato Institute, a right wing/ayn rand style libertarian think tank in Washington. They're funded by Exxon, Coors, the Koch family (Americans that exploited Russian oil prior to the cold war) and some other unsavory characters. His sponsored opinion is pretty blatant if you listen to his radio show on Free FM.
So, yeah, take their advice and take it all with a grain of salt..
