Hey guys, glad to be back to Inforoo - I tend to take a break in the few months following bonnaroo to kind of recharge, not sure about the rest of you - it also gets me too excited for too long, reading all this good gossip even though there's no real news until around nowish or the end of the month. Anyway, I'm back after the Bonnaroo I've enjoyed the most (I've been to the last three), even though it wasn't my favorite lineup of alltime. blah blah blah...
so my friends and I were enjoying a fine corn dinner and had a cool idea for this year. A HUGE water gun fight or nerf fight. Now, even if it isn't official, this is definitely something we as a community could pull off, but how awesome would it be if a sponsor paid for this? I could see someone like MoveOn or one of the political organizations doing it and handing out some literature as well.
Think about it, hundreds of people having a water gun or nerf fight in a special venue, maybe something with some hiding spots and refill stations. Hell, they could make it like one of those water park things where they have cannons that shoot water and such, too.
One way to pull this off might be to have this in a sports area, maybe having times in the morning and early afternoon for little Roo'ers and their families and then all out battle for us big kids. A couple frisbees and stuff wouldn't hurt either or some beach volleyball.
anyway, just something a few of us came up with. Any thoughts? anything similar to this been done before?
Don't know of anything on a large scale....I know that there are several corporate sponsors in the media/VIP/Artist area that do things like that on a smaller scale. It was either last year or year before that they had batting cages set up in the media/artist VIP area and had a contest with the media and artists...I didn't pay that much attention cause I didn't intend on participating.....but I haven't ever noticed them doing anything like that other than whatever FUSE or someone does at that Barn thing that I don't really check out.....and the XBOX arcade or whatever.....not sure how you would really do something that would take up that much space and coordinate the logistics with 80K people potentially wanting to do it....

This idea would be great...however; will the event staff let us take water guns in?
I think a HUGE super soaker event would be amazing. An idea could be-bring in a canned good (they are always wanting to help people, help some organization by donating the food we bring) and you get to enter a section where water guns and super soakers are used for fun and to help cool off! Great PR move for Bonnaroo and TONS of fun for us!!!! Plus we help a worth cause!

I saw lots of people with water guns, some of them were nice enough to squirt me in the face with them. (Bonnaroo has got to be one of the few places where squirted someone in the face with a water gun gets you a "THANK YOU" in response!) I don't think there's any problem with bringing them in.

I so agree! Something else I thought of adding as well (besides the canned good idea), could be a monetary donation or better yet, you know how Cool Vibes has rewards for trash collected? Free admittance!!!

yeah, the arena thing prolly wont work, but the giant water gun fight would be super-epic and even better if it were for a cause. but a large area to get wet and cool off and have fun sounds better than standing under the brown mushroom water.
I read an article where some guy in New York had a pretty sweet game, assassin type city wide. I suppose people first signed up and sent a picture in with some basic info (favorite coffee shops, fast food joints, etc)... anyways, the guy had quite a few people sign up, and then mailed all the people a picture of a different person, their info as well as a water gun.
Each person sort of hunts each other, if the person shoots another, he or she must give up their target. The winner recieved $500 bucks.

I think a huge water fight in the field in front of the What stage would be epic. Imagine 10 or 20k people with water balloons and super soakers, pre headliner or even on Sunday just in the middle of the swamp butt inducing heat. Besides, if it was done not on Sunday then the rest of the weekend would look like Memphis in May...if anyone knows what I'm talking about

PEOPLE PEOPLE PEOPLE!!! Lets try to make this happen, I mean there is only one place in the world where this could happen and how friggin awesome would that be... Please someone be with me on this

I get the Memphis In May reference! LOL It is so nasty when the rain mixes with all the trash and the portos overflow into the mucky mess. I pretty much guarantee that is the only festie that would schedule Lynard Skynard and 3 Six Mafia at the same time! Glad I missed that night!
Back on topic, I'm all for the water war! Decide on a place and time and I'll be there.
Did anybody see the mini water ballon fight in 07 outside the Comedy Tent on Friday?

Yes yes..goofy shizz in the Dirty South...but i saw the aftermath of 07 and thats what I was thinking when I saw this. But I think this could work with Super Soakers and maybe water balloons too, but it needs to be in the field of the What Stage during the last heat of the day on Sunday..
People, imagine 5k or even A thousand people, ALL with big Super Soakers..this is making me feel like I'm 5 again

or we can just do it ourselves, flash mob style. set up time and place, bring our water guns, and start soaking each other, im sure many random people would join in.

Ooh ya man I bet they would, and we don't need to get this sponsored or build an arenaa.... but if we cordinated and got some water stations set up n such... water balloons ready and 10k super soakers....please people please...

Not just Bonnaroo any music festival or even outdoor summer show usually generates the same appreciation. I always have a spray bottle to cool off those in need.
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
I love water guns. Carried a little water pistol around with me everywhere I went last year. Even if we just had a few people (mebbe a dozen or two), it'd be great fun. So count me in.

as much fun as it would be, I don't think we should have it in centeroo. I would love to, but the two times I tried to bring a large watergun in last year I was told to turn back.
Also water balloons are a good idea but also a mess. doesn't mean we shouldn't consider them hough.
My ONLY fear would be organiziers throwing a fit when we bust out the super soakers and take over our little corner of Bonnaroo!
My only fear is that people might put certain... ahem... substances inside and end up spraying them on the unwilling or unsuspecting. I think you all catch my drift.

I was starting to give up on this thread, but now...HA....this is my hope
Just to get this out there too....EVERYONE can spray me, no matter what is or whats not in their super soaker...
