Man, I haven't set out to do anything like this in a long time. I got hooked on Phish right at the end of high school. Made it to 5 shows in '99, 6 shows in '00, then of course we all know things ended. Got back on the train for a few @ Deer Creek in 2004 but that's been it. Else, I see what shows I can around town.
But, things are meant to be. Just upgraded my car for the first time in my life to something new'ish. I know I can make it, and Phish is probably playing several nights. Hell yes!
Hope to make some new friends and figure out everything I need before June! Crazy, road-trip time! Just have to figure out a tent. Last festival I did was the Hippy Hill Hoodang in Bean Blossom Indiana. Lol, slept in the van I was driving then. Not much of a camper up to now but I'm all about getting a tent and doing it!
Will be interesting to see how this compares to a few of my trips from my "younger years". Younger in the sense that I'm just about 29 now, ha. But in 1999 me and my best friend did Southern Indiana -> Columbus, Ohio -> East Troy, WI (no sleep) -> Noblesville, IN (finally some sleep) for 2 nights. For Phish. Apparently that wasn't stupid enough so in 2000 we did a run that put us out in Burgettstown, PA -> East Troy (again, no sleep) -> Deer Creek for 3 nights. With an off day in there where we saw Phil Lesh & Friends and Bob Dylan. And Umphrey's at our freaking campground for at least one night that I vividly remember. Lol.
Sure will be nice to just drive to one place and see ten times the shows. And if Phish for two nights is true, man, life will be good. I'll see everyone wherever you line up to get a good spot for the shows. Woo hoo.
They had the original one, a couple thousand folks showed up, and towards the end of the first day the promoters took the money and ran. Got to see JMP and Karl Denson on Night 1, but Day 2 it was over. Salmon and Hookah were scheduled, didn't make the trip since by then it was well known to be a bust. Jassy Grazz helped save the day with a killer performance, but all was lost. After that, they tried again as the FUNK Fest but the last two have been canceled ;o(
