I find myself listening to mainly bands with male singers. I need some Lady Love! What are your favorite bands with female singers? I like Feist, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, but I need some more to check out.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I like portishead, tori amos, pj harvey and not sure what the lady's name is off hand but the girl that sings for lovage really does it for me, oh and massive attack.
There are plenty of female solo acts worth mentioning, but I'll stick with bands

I don't know why but for some reason I am extremely picky when it comes to lady singers/bands. I think I am more critical of them. There are a lot on this thread that I have heard and can't get into....but now I have a lot of listening to do in the upcoming days.

Haha this is such a great thread because I'm the same way. I tend to listen to a lot of things with male vocalists and am very picky with female ones. I'm definitely going to check out these suggestions, too.
Some that I really like have already been listed, but here are a few more that I listen to from time to time: Acid House Kings Brandi Carlisle The Howling Bells Indigo Girls Kimya Dawson Lykke-Li Maria Taylor (especially her CD Savannah Drive with Andy LeMaster) Serena Ryder Tilly and the Wall Terra Naomi
