Good Lord, man...Ready Player One is the most brilliant sci-fi novel I've read in a long time, and I'm only about 1/3 of the way through it. Hope it continues in this vein.
i read that this summer as well and loved it. it's such an imaginative story it makes up for the dialogue.
however, i listened on audiobook and let me tell you, hearing the scoreboard read repeatedly was trying.

Needed a break from all the literary fiction I've been reading lately. This book was a nice easy read that was actually really entertaining (once you get through the first couple chapters you really don't want to put it down, I read it in just a couple days). I'm a big fan of Hancock's non-fiction, but I didn't expect much from this. I was very pleasantly surprised.
I haven't had a chance to read a lot in the past two weeks, but my goal is to start a Murakami book today. He always fills my soul. I might try "After the Quake".
I'm in another book lull. I've been combing through the "best" lists for 2013 trying to find something to read.
By the way, I tried to read Cloud Atlas and I can't get through it. I only got about halfway through before I stopped. Has anyone else read it? If it gets better, I'll try to solider through.

Many Lives Many Masters - A quick read but one that honestly changed my perspective on many things!
- I can't attach images (book cover) for some reason (no matter what image I try to select I'm told it is too large - this has been happening to me with anything that I try to attach) -

Co-authored by one of my best friends. He is a world renowned western herbalist. It is an all encompassing guide to herbs and herbal formulas. Fantastic read for anyone interested in natural healing.
This year so far I've read the first Game of Thrones book, and "The Book Thief" by Marcus Zusak. Now I'm on "Clash of Kings", and enjoying it much more than the first book.
Also, I work in a bookstore so if people want book recommendations feel free to ask.
I think I've mentioned it before, but this book is amazing (and also, the sequel, Freedom). it's a sci-fi/computer/tech/semi-post-apocalyptic thriller, and if you have any interest in evolving technology, it's a must-read... (and, because I'm a super geek, I'm also including a couple of interesting links r/t the book)
for more info on the technology in the book (it's all real): Daemon website Infowars article about the book, Kurzweil's Singularity, and a look at current/future AI capabilities: Infowars article
