I propose a new sub-board dedicated to the 'roo clues. It was initially proposed that we create separate threads for each clue. However, this could leave the Troo Music Lounge very cluttered and awash with clue threads. So, I think they are deserving of their own sub-board.

I second this idea. With the growing number of posts the current thread is going to be extremely hard to follow. If we had a sub-board, it would cut down on the repetitive posts as well.

I absolutely support this. Here is my suggestion how we could do it:
Each new clue, and it's related twitters/clues gets a thread. I.E. Roo Clue #2 would be a thread. I propose we have an additional companion thread, something like Roo Clue #2 Chatter & Commentary where people can have relatively off-topic discussions and be a little more free with their discussion, leaving only actual guesses, logic, and attempts at clue-solving in the actual thread.
Finally, if a general consensus is not reached and we wind up with several answers, someone who is inclined to could feel more than welcome to make a poll in another thread after we've more or less exhausted our options and ideas in the clue solving thread
Last but not least, I suggest we have a sticky at the top with a general clue solving guide. Some forum etiquette, and some different techniques and things we've learned that may not be readily apparent to a new clue solver. A strategy guide, almost.
We would just need some way of limiting who starts the threads. Or some other measure so that we would not have the issue of 10 threads named "Roo Clue #2..." I agree that a sub-board would make things much more orderly.

Obviously I support this idea, but would add that each clue's thread should be titled with that clue (or an abbreviation if the full clue doesn't fit).

Looks like I might be in the minority, but I really really DON'T want to see separate threads. It'll be so hard to keep track of everything. And obviously I enjoy this stuff and want to be able to follow it...but even beyond my personal preferences, I'm afraid I'd have to give up on the website if we split the discussion into multiple threads. (I'm not saying that definitively, I'm just worrying about it.)
Keeping up with the discussion right now (and therefore, for me, keeping up with the website) is really not taking much effort at all. Each time I get online when I haven't been for a while, I just need to spend 5 or 10 minutes reading through stuff and copying and pasting a few things to the website. With multiple threads it would be not only harder to do but also a HELL of a lot less enjoyable.
I personally think it'd be better to have a thread that is permanently locked and mod'ed with all the clues and serious band possibilities listed as they come

I think with multiple threads it will be easier to keep a focused discussion going. If we get ten new clues over the next week the discussion will fly all over the place. You could have an entire page of posts with no two discussing the same clue.
In a little over 2 days, one clue has spawned 45 pages of posts (1,329 posts at the moment). Imagine multiple clues coming at once - it would be chaotic. We could stay more organized with separate threads for each clue. The only problem being that we may fail to connect clues that are supposed to be related. However, I think we are savvy enough to avoid this problem.

Oh, that reminds me - if people think it would be better for me to add clues and guesses to the first post on the other thread I can do that. I thought the web site would make things easier to keep track of, but if it's not working I'll accept that.

I guess the issue I have with this is that we do not always have a mod available to maintain things. What if none of you are around when new clues come around or it looks like we solved a clue? And who is to say what artists are serious possibilities and which ones are not?

thats pretty much exactly what is already happening with plasticpeppers website, which is listed on the first page of the thread.
..so i don't see how that would help or what difference that would make

cosign on this one. Right now it's all over the place with only one clue, with people coming in every few pages referencing dead clues, or ideas that have long been exhausted or guesses that have been ruled out, I can't see how it would be any less confusing once more clues start coming and they start coming in a more rapid succession. I think multiple threads is the only coherent way to organize the clues. Perhaps the thread starter would have the responsibility of summarizing related clues + theories if pepper doesn't feel up to it.

this would be good but as someone else mentioned - it seems that the mods are not around nearly as much as they have been in the past - guess they are all busy doing other things and not hanging out on Inforoo as much as they used to.

YEA!!! What Meg said!!!! Fancy mods . . . probably off at fancy mod parties where they sit around and talk about how great is feels to lock a thread or edit another user's post . . .
I don't want to have to rely on the mods if we can't be sure that they will be around to supervise all of us kids.
We have been lacking in the Mod department as of late, only 3 or 4 of you are really active these days.
Unless of course, some of us were due for a promotion . . .
on proboards, admins can set it up so a user can only moderate certain boards. I don't think it's too out of the question to have one person moderate only the clue forum or subforum. That would be the only part of the board they would have control of.

The clues could end up coming so fast and if Mods are slow to react....uh oh! The way it is now is still kinda cluttered...but really not too bad I suppose.

I see a "ROO CLUES: PLEASE READ" thread has been put up. I'm not really sure what the purpose of this is though, especially since it just lists peppers site which is already the first post in her thread.... just a useless sticky that takes up more space at the top of the forum in my opinion.
Well I got rid of the Phish sticky, so no, it's not taking up more space. It's at the top as a general notice for those that just jump into the Roo clues thread without reading the first page. Cause a ton of people do that.
i just dont think it solves the issues originally presented. This thread wasn't started because people were complaining about members not reading the first post. it just makes it look like you guys arent paying much attention and just throwing up a solution that really doesnt do much.
anyway, im done expressing my opinion on this issue. just found it completely frustrating and wanted to let you guys know.
I understand, but there was no decision made yet about what to do about it, so this is just a stop gap measure put in place before new clues come raining down on us and all of inforoo goes completely insane.

I agree 100% with Cupcake
Sorry Danbird, but that sticky you put up is doing absolutely nothing to address the issue. The clues thread is totally disorganized, and half the people posting in it are using it like a chat room.
If you like the song on Bonnaroo radio right now, that's great, but posting about it in the clues thread is part of the reason it blows up so fast. That is just one of many examples I could give of irrelevant and redundant posts. We also are beginning to see people bringing up the first clue and discussing it, which distracts focus from the second clue. Which is why we at least need separate threads for each clue.
I would like to hear the rationale on why the Mods only response to our request was a stickied thread asking everyone to read Pepper's blog.
