After browsing the boards talking about the Phish summer tour, if they are confirmed (and I suspect they will be) what will it mean for Roo tickets? A lot of people are getting shut out of the summer tour, and they may constitute a large population that otherwise might not have bought tickets. I think tickets will go faster this year than they ever have before. What do you guys think?
I think there is another thread around here somewhere about this already - it sounds familiar but if it sells out - I doubt that it will before May.
Truthfully - most years AC/Superfly says it has sold out - but we really have no way of knowing for sure because they don't say how many tickets for sure that they will sell - just an approximate and then you can add 5-10,000 to that for vendors and such

^ I've always thought the same thing. If there is an insane demand for tickets, it seems like they can just print more, since fire codes don't necessarily restrict them from letting in more people.

honestly, has the roo ever sold out? i mean, they say it sells out... but really... i just dont see them ever not selling as many tickets as possible... and really. last year, there was still a whole other section of room behind us at our pod...
for someone such as myself who has to wait to get his ticket until quite late in the game... i certainly hope not.

I kinda hope Phish isn't announced. Because if all the rumors are true then Roo will sell out quickly, and I kinda have to wait to buy my ticket till later in Feb. or March.

Im in the same boat as you but im not entirely worried. I think Roo will sell out but it will take awhile. 80,000 is alot of freaking tickets to sell and with the economy the way it is I dont see them selling out before the end of March. I could be wrong and if it does sell out before I can afford a ticket and I end up having to pay a ridiculous amount to go then I will probably cry but right now im optimistic that tickets will last for awhile.
yes it has actually sold out before though, and if you believe ac/superfly they now keep it capped at 80k. (i wish i could believe them but i don't)
Yea, I think they tried 100k or 90k in 2004 and it was just too many people. I don't think they'll allow anymore than 80k unless they've made some serious infrastructure improvements.

Lots of hippies have relatively bad credit, bet you cant guess why?? I can tell you its not because they get credit cards specifically for Renaissance fairs.

It's gonna be at second tier prices. That would just be effed up on SF/AC's part to go back to first tier prices. I don't remember if the last time they did a presale it sold out. I remember the 'Krew Of Roo' and they did not sell out that year. So no I don't think so.
I think last year was the first year that they did not sell out. The crwod was much smaller and there were entire sections of the back campground empty. Day parking was were there is normally camping.
2004 was a nightmare with local officials putting attendace at around 110K with vendors and visitors. After 04 they put in the 80K cap. There were only about 64K there last year.
i think Phish defintiely sells out the roo this year.
I just think that IF Phish gets confirmed, you might see enterprising individuals buying up tickets and waiting for the fest to sell out, at which point you COULD still get a ticket, but at an inflated price. This is what has been happening with the Phish tour. And let's not forget, IF the Beasties and the Boss get confirmed, as is rumored, the ticket stock is only going to increase. I guess only time will tell.
I honestly think you guys are worried for no reason. A bad economy and high gas prices hurt Roo last year. Things are way worst now. One band is not going to change the fact that a lot of people can't afford to go this year. Within the Inforoo community, a Phish announcement is huge, to the rest of the country it might not mean as much. I have also noticed that some regulars to Inforoo are not going this year, myself included. I have enough for one festival this year and It's going to be Sasquatch. I would like to do Roo too, but the money is not there. I wish a huge crowd and a fun time for all of you. I will cross my fingers that Roo sells out, but like I've said before, doesn't look good. second tier tickets will sell out within a few days. people waiting for taxes or some other income after the first few days tickets are being sold will be stuck with paying almost 300 a ticket. Roo will sell out....but it wont be til somewhere around the beginning of June

I completely disagree with this statement.
There are only about 7k users on inforoo. That is a very small drop in the bucket to the national Phish following. I think the announcement of Phish at roo is much bigger to the rest of the country than to the inforoo community. There are a lot of Phans out there that wouldnt touch the roo unless Phish is playing.
Well someone threw out that Livenation had over a million ticket requests in the 1st 15 minutes. Subtract 30% for custie ballsniffing scalpers and you get 750,000 fans requesting. Going on venue size and giving and average of 20,000 capacity that is 200,000 - 250,000 available tickets available which leaves half a million out in the cold. If only 20% of those guys decide Bonnaroo is the only way to see Phish that would more than sell it out on their own. Personally I would not take the risk if you cant afford them when they go on sale do the payment plan. I may buy a couple more myself just so that when one or two of my slacker friends gets surprised by a sell out they can still go with me.
