Anyone know how to go about getting one or how hard/easy it is to get one?
I have a music blog and well, its something I pretty much do in my spare time, but I want to be will be a music writer one day and just wondered if anyone knew - moetrain, i'm sure you know about this
Anyways, I got hooked up with a free press pass last year to this local music festival called MidPoint, and I wrote extensively on my site about it, promoting it, covering it, artist interviews, reviews, footage, all that stuff, so I was wondering if I'd go about it in a similar fashion.
Actually got to meet AA Bondy, if anyone's ever heard of him, but he opened for the Felice Brothers at MidPoint, though I didn't get to meet them, I stood like a foot away from them, but we were all a little drunk and I didn't introduce myself or anything...
Anyways, thanks to anyone who could fill me in on the same thing for Bonnaroo....
Gotta fill out the official form on the website, and write a good plan of coverage... We (Moe Train's Tracks) have covered it for the past two years, and have had a blast. Did a ton of interviews as well... and met some great Inforoosters!
Looks like they haven't posted the actual application yet...that will probably happen sometime after the tix go back onsale this weekend...probably will be within the next couple of weeks. If I'm not getting my festies mixed up I think Roo's application is online...
As a webzine/Blog you'll have to have some way to estimate readership/hits....the web equivalent of print "subscription base/circulation"....and as Moe says a coverage plan...in other words you can't just show up and make up what you are gonna write about after the fact...you have to go in with some sort of angle.
I was kind of thinking of a Hunter S. Thompson inspired blitz, get the passes and see what kind of interesting situations I could talk myself into over the weekend. Then post it all on inforoo of course. I am guessing this does not count as a blog though. ;D
EDIT
Why dosent it though, I bet all the regular posters on here have a readership look at all the lurkers.

Yeah...there is this little thing called "being on assignment"....no freelancing....if you can find someone legit to "sponsor" you then go for it...and if you can be convincing enough in your coverage plan in your app...more power to ya! ;D
I'd talk to Dirty Jerzee before I did anything like that if I were you...just a suggestion knowing how these things work. I know he got a pass last year and I talked to him a bit about the process he had to go through to get it so....just out of consideration before using Inforoo's name in a press app I'd check with him first.....
But hey....do your thing dude...and good luck with whatever you do!
