I won't miss 'Roo, although I'm thinking with the thought of our store closing looming over our heads-- many of my coworkers who are convinced they want to go, won't be able to. I save for this starting the day after it ends the previous year.. ;]

Yeah, I start saving well in advance and the pre-sale helped me space out the costs quite a bit.
Of course, then I bought Phish tickets for Asheville and Knoxville.

I'm pretty damn broke right now!
I hear you. After I buy my roo tickets and wakarusa.. I'll probably have spent most my money.

Same here, otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to swing it.
But even though I've got enough $ to go, I've got a lot less flexibility now and am not sure I'll make the trek all the way to TN (I live in Mass.). I know I'm going to Mountain Jam and at least one other fest.. So let's say that due to the economy, Roo's lineup has to really impress me.

yes and no. im still working everyday but the work has slowed down, so hours go down as well. i work at UPS so how much work i do is pretty dependent on how much people around the country are buying/shipping things.
So while the economy isnt really preventing me from doing what i want, its definitely not helping me do more of what i want lol. Im more missing Roo this year (pretty sure i am not gonna make it, but if the lineup blows away enough people for a carpool to TN i may splurge and hop in for the ride) because i am gonna try to hit up smaller and closer festivals to me, mainly camp bisco.
I really am unsure, I was able to keep my job during first round of lay offs by switching to part time which worked out cause I'm back in school anyway but they just offered more severence packages and if people dont take all of them another round of lay offs will ensue plus I am terrible at saving money since I go to shows every weekend. I'm gonna lay off the shows tho and start putting away some more money since I had to pay for school out of pocket this semester which completely decimated my life savings. worst comes to worst tho I guess I can always cash in my 401K haha.
As my restaurant has now been closed for 6 weeks (slow season) I am hoping I have funds for food let alone a tic for 'roo. We had a slow year this past year so my hours were not what they should have been so I was not able to save any scratch for this slow time. And to make matters worse the restaurant my wife works at closed down in Aug. and she has not made much money since with the job she has picked up because they are so slow. So a Hardy f*** yeah to the economy screwing with me this year. If 'roo sells out before the end of March I will miss it. =-( =-( very very sad...Need to see Phish again Been almost 20 years since I first saw those Vermont boys at Wetlands in NYC
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
If it sells out fast I may be ebaying in a few months. The presale was great but it was either Christmas or Roo tix and we chose Christmas. If it doesn't sell out then I should be able to get tix in a few weeks, hopefully.

My company is waiting to know if we got the bid on a 5-10 year contract. If we don't, then i won't have a job next month. Either way I bought 4 tickets in pre-sale and I am going to Roo. Nothing will stop me!! ;D I have back-up savings and my husband works so I am not really scared yet.....
My restaurant has been pretty slow, so I'm being forced to work more if I wanna afford 'Roo. I've can afford the payment plan set-up they have goin', but right now I'm worried about travel expenses and spending money for the farm.
I'm a person who saves and is always prepared. I got my A## kicked last year. I have never seen anything like this before. I don't think some people really understand how bad things are. Our economy is on the edge of going over and not coming back. You need things like Bonnaroo to let off steam and not go crazy. I had already planned on going to Sasquatch this year, so I don't have extra funds for Roo. I will pray that things get better so I can plan on next year. When it comes down to paying the mortgage or going and having fun, you know how it has to go. This really sucks, and I'm as unhappy as I've ever been.
There is plenty of money out there Mr. President. The A holes who caused all this mess have it. Make the Fer's give it back!!! They took a Sh*t load of mine.

I'm gonna be paying for it via my tax refund, however, I know it won't arrive before Saturday, and I wanna make sure I get them as soon as they go on sale, so my parents said they'd make the purchase, and as soon as the check comes in, I'll hand it over to them. Once that's outta the way, I'll focus on saving money on actually getting there. I've got about 40 dollars in loose change saved up, so that's a start!

I don't care if I have to eat Ramen noodles everyday to help pay for my tickets...I'm going. Will probably use my severance pay that is a couple weeks down the road to help me prep for Roo since I'm horrible at saving $$. Even though they are ass-raping us on GA ticket prices this year, I'll still scrape the cheeze together for the annual ticket giveaway.

I'm torn. I said after '07 that I had no intention of going back, but then I saw the lineup for this year, and now I'm really thinking I need to go! I have just enough of my tax refund left to cover our two tickets, but I was planning to save that for an emergency. Plus, I would have to think about other expenses, particularly the cost of boarding two dogs.
I get a free ticket - friends in right places lets say- so I will be there either way. We are cutting back on several things though and are afraid for other people who are really feeling it already.
To Cher - Good news. Real hippy clothes ARE the old stuff!
Bunny - Why do I feel the need to give you karma when your post made me spit coffee on the screen.
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.
I'm not making it, thanks to the economy as well. I work for the state, and the state is broke. We're going to catch up to two furloughs per month. That's two days a month missing from the paycheck. Might not sound like much, but I've been here awhile, and it's a hefty hunk of cash. I'm going to need my tax return just to keep my family afloat.

Fortunately I get to go this year. Unfortunately my best friend who I only get to see once a year because he lives on the other side of the country can't go. He has been with me at Bonnaroo the last two years that I have gone.
He lost his house to foreclosure and then lost his job and has no hopes of finding one soon. So he can't afford to go. I don't mind going to Roo by myself, but the thing that stings me is not being able to get excited this year when the lineup came out today and share that excitement with him.
