There seems to be some disagreement over this. I much prefer Pridgen, think he is ridiculously talented and has a unique sound. But a lot of people will say Jon fit into the band better. Curious what the poll will reveal.
thomas pridgen is the definition of over doing it. yes he is technically great but i cant listen to him. jon was an amazing drummer he fit the band better and was so much easier to listen to. Everything he did was complicated but it all fit the music and actually sounded like something. the new is just all over the place and a show off.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

i dont really know there names, is the black guy thomas??
Yes, Thomas is the blacker guy, hes the new one. IMO Mars Volta are about being over the top in a way, and Pridgen just completes that. With Pridgen playing its just like thunder in the background, i love it.

I was crushed when JT was announced as no longer in the band.
He was my favorite drummer from the time I first Deloused until Bedlam came out.
And then the Pridgemaster General took over.
For me, he took what JT brought and somehow managed to add even more speed and accuracy. I was really worried about TMVs future when they were going through all those drumming changes around '06, but I'll be damend if they didn't find the perfect fit.
Even after growing with this band over the last 6 years I can't really imagine them without TP.
I gotta go with theodore, the shows I saw with him were always really wonderful and creative and just had this amazing energy coursing through the speakers, the two shows I have seen with pridgen I just really didnt enjoy as much. Maybe my tastes have just changed but TMV used to be one of my fav bands to see and I prob wont even bother to catch em at Roo I would rather see Omar do solo stuff its much more creative and exciting imo.
when the rest of the bands stops playing their instruments during a show, all stand back and simply watch him with their jaws open, I'm pretty sure he's the right drummer for the band

so saying the music made with John was better is sort of irrelevant cause the same guy is still writing all the tunes.....
I think you were probably going for something like "I like John's style better" or "John's drumming meshes better with the band" rather than the music was better......that's sorta dumb IMHO
