with a heavy heart and a tear in my eye... we say goodbye to another one who has gone much too soon. i feel horrible. i called just to see how things were going, and didnt get an answer... and about ten minutes later her mom called back and gave me the news... this is why i hate to lose touch with my friends.
you guys know how much i love bonnaroo... so did lindsay. she worked there every year except last year. she had an amazing free spirit, and neverending love for the outdoors, and her fellows. i found out a couple weeks after the fact, but my head still reels like a sledgehammer just crushed the side of my head. as anyone who knew lindsay will attest, she will be horribly and sadly missed among the top hat crew, and anyone else who knew her.
she has an almost two year old daughter who will grow up without her mom, and a mother who has to relive this for the rest of her life... i know this is a msg board to celebrate all things bonnaroo, but i really feel like you guys are my family, and so i share my pain with you as well.
may she be in the hands of the god of her understanding, safe, protected and provided for...

Sioux Falls, SD - Lindsay May, age 27, formerly of Madison, died Tues., Jan. 27, 2009 at her residence. She was born Feb. 2, 1981 at Bismarck, ND, to Charles E. and Kathy (Borns) May. Survivors include her darling 20 month-old daughter, Charli Kay Price of Sioux Falls; her parents Kathy and Scott Janke of Madison; one sister; two nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her pets. Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Ellsworth Funeral Home with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Madison. Visitation begins noon Friday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Ellsworth Funeral Home. Visitation continues prior to the service on Saturday.

Condolences to her family. I recently lost a 2 and half month old nephew, it's hard but with good friends and family it makes it all easier. Hopefully all her loved ones are blessed with the same.
It is just un-natural to lose someone so young. And to you too billclinton, That is a real heartbreaker.Blessings of comfort to friends and family of both.
Instead of dirt and poison, we have rather chosen to fill our hives with honey and wax; thus furnishing mankind with the two noblest of things, which are sweetness and light.
It's crazy to realize that a stranger you meet and party with at Bonnaroo, so full of life, may be in their grave before the next one. I hope she rests in peace.
Man, i am so sorry to hear about this. I know how weird it will be to go back to the farm without one from your crew, but its best to keep the memories alive and remember the good times. Our friends mom is giving us some of her ashes to take down to the farm, and we are going to spread them somewhere during the day one day, have a little service among friends, sit and smoke, probably cry a bit. Feels right though.
My best thoughts go to you, your friends, and her family.

In the end, the best way to honor such a free spirit is to live. Enjoy the moments that we have, even the ones that seem desperate. Sorry for your loss.

I've seen too many individuals pass too young. I learned something a while back...
When you lose someone take a characteristic from them. Write it down. Save it somewhere close to you. If you save one characteristic from them and try and grow that characteristic amongst your self than you can always have a part of them with you.
I hope you have a characteristic that you loved about Lindsey that you can take. I'm sure she would love to know that she influenced you.

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing people is awful. I know how you feel about wishing you had stayed in touch. A good friend of mine from high school and college died a couple of weeks ago and when I got the call the next morning all I could think was that I hadn't talked to him recently. Now all I can do is think about all the conversations we had. My thoughts are with you and her friends and family.

Our condolences, Lindsay sounded like a wonderful person.
The death of a friend is always a miserable experience but instead of losing yourself to grief, live your own life twice as hard. Get every last bit of joy and wonder from each day and your friend's spirit lives on though you.
