I've been an avid Phish listener for some years now, and in a few of their songs they mention slicing nipples with paper (Fee, The Sloth, #In the first verse, instead of "Let that mean woman make me a fool", Trey says "Let that mean woman slice my nipple". *Slower style than usual (asterisk with "Whipping Post" on a 1987 setlist, e.g.). Your thoughts?
I can't comment much on that, my knowledge of Phish is pretty limited. I do enjoy noticing things like that though, especially when the band is one of your favorites. I've come to notice Pink Floyd absolutely loved the G chord, and that Isaac from Modest Mouse (or even most of the band) has an obsession with the ocean and water in general. There's at least 6-8 songs where Isaac mentions ships sailing or the ocean, and that's not including the obvious one (Missed the Boat)

Maybe it's just something they tell eachother in the band... an inside joke of sorts. Like in my inner circle we tell one another "i'll fuck you with a cactus covered in battery acid".... which originated from a hilarious night that no one will ever forget. Or maybe Trey's just kinky like that, as alyroo said. Who knows?

I had thought the same thing about Modest Mouse. I read an interview with Isaac a while back where he talked about how the ocean was his greatest love but moreso his greatest fear, which in turn is why he loves and respects it so much.

HAHA, kinda like when buddies and i are on the phone, its always a race to be the one who says "fuck your mother" and hang up...maybe durring the shows sometimes they just try to see who gets a chance to say it first
