Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hot tip: I was told about an app called Fantasy Hike which I guess could encourage more steps and you can like walk to Mordor? I haven’t dug too much into it but I saw a tiktok that was enough to convince me. That year Pokémon Go first came out I was way more active, so I hope for the same thing in these cold months.
Ask: Can y’all drop playlists or album suggestions for faster paced exercise music? I’m sick of my running playlist
here is the inforoo curated workout playlist from a couple years ago:
here's the playlist thread, there may be some others on here that fit your workout fancy

Currently down 4 pounds (from 211 to 207) since the new year. Been walking over an hour daily and deep diving in to artists during that. Goal is back under 200 by Okeechobee, and hopefully back down under 190 by Bonnaroo. Hitting the gym and eating better- can't believe how much better I feel in only the past two weeks doing this. Sleep quality and mental health have drastically improved.

I'm in a pretty disappointing spot. 6'1 225. Fattest ever. Trying to use the cheat code that is keto and i've been good... other than the last two Saturdays when the Jags win and celebration takes over.
Ideally, I'll stay true to it through March and get to about 195. At that point the real challenge would start where I try to transition to lifting / running and being a non-degenerate while not following Keto. We'll see.

pls get off keto as soon as you cannnnnn. ive got 101 strong opinions on this haha but it is rly rly bad for your heart & cholesterol. and i want my friends healthy!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

uh no thank you. I’ll worry about my heart when I’m 87 years old. It works and is easy to follow. Body feels great when on it.

Actually I’ll clarify I do a little bit of a fake keto. End of the day I’m basically just cutting out sugar / carbs. I follow the restrictions but don’t necessarily ramp up the bacon and cheese to extreme levels to be balanced in a certain way.
Cutting out sugar alone is just such a monstrous change.

when you're 87 feels a litttttttttle too late, bb.
i just cannot understand how a diet can tell you "no carrots, no bananas, no quinoa, limit your squash intake -- but eating a bacon wrapper burger with cheese on top, sans bun, is totally fine."
im not here to tell everyone to go vegan, but if looking for longer term sustainable weight loss, just adding more veggies, fruit, unprocessed whole grains, and healthy fats like nuts, avocado, etc. does the trick. i lost 25 pounds that way.

And I lost 25 lbs this way last year. I don't really stay strict on carrots and squash. But its also not like I'm out here eating carrots all the time keto or no keto. Bananas have a good amount of sugar in them. Its an unfortunate cut but it makes sense to me. There are different ways to skin a cat, but cutting sugar / breads is an obvious move.

Been running 3 miles 5 times per week plus lightish lifting program.
Goal is 165lb end of year. By roo I am hoping for 180lb.
Recently stopped drinking every day to just weekends. Hardest part for me is diet/portion control.
Damn Vamp we're the same height. I quit smoking right after Halloween and that's when I jumped from 195ish-211. Looking forward to running that 5k, I've been walking 5+ miles a day but I plan to bump that to running on Feb 1st, need to rehab my old ankle injury for a while before I start putting that kind of strain on it.
Keto's mostly a shortcut/structured way to consuming less calories. Ketosis is probably overrated and you have to be very, very strict about carb intake to the point where most people doing keto aren't really doing keto anyway. It's so easy to hit 50g of carbs. It works for some though, but for me plain ol calorie tracking and adjusting intake over time is what works best. I'm at point now where I have a pretty good feel for what amounts of food/activity make me gain/lose weight so I've been pretty stable for the most part. I actually unintentionally lost another few pounds recently so now I gotta gain it back in ass.

Same here on the smoking aspect! With me lowering my drinking ive been smoking more zaza and it helps me control my appetite better

5'8" 267. Goal by Roo is 225 (eventual goal is 150 by 5/1/24). Plan is intermittent fasting (eat only noon-8 pm), calorie counting 6 days a week (starting w/ 2500, lowering incrementally to 1750), walking 30+ minutes daily, running at least 3x / week (but ideally I'll get really into and do more like 6x, time permitting), and weening off soda/coffee (I only drink diet soda as is but it's not great for the health despite 0 calories).
Have lost 100 lbs before in my life w/ calorie counting + walking, but that was pre having a corporate job and other life responsibilities (which are the reason I gained it all back to begin with). Festivals are a real strong motivation, the difference between Firefly 2018 when I was half marathon fit and able to run back and forth between stages and Roo 2019 when I'd gained most of the weight back and literally had to sit through Post Malone and Gambino and skip some sets out of sheer exhaustion was night and day.

It’s your body and your health, so you, of course, get to decide what to do with it. But you also posted this on a public forum, so you can’t be surprised when people have opinions.
My question would be, if you lost 25 pounds this way last year, and now, a year later, you’re at your “fattest ever,” did it really work? Or did it just make you smaller for a little while and then you gained it back and then some because it wasn’t sustainable?
To echo what Vieux said a page or two back, I feel like there really has to be a lifestyle component if you really want to make lasting changes with your weight or your health.

i lost 55 lbs on keto, from 235-180. this was a long time ago, god almost 15 years ago. since then i have gained 15 pounds. so a pound a year! thats not too bad, even if i'd like to lose it again.
i made changes to how i eat after i reintroduced carbs in my life. before keto i would eat BIG meals, like several pieces of pizza. i'd routinely eat until i felt totally stuffed, because that was just how i grew up eating. keto taught me how to listen to my body's satiation signals. now i kind of know when i get to a point where i can stop eating, and in ten minutes i'll feel satiated. just takes a little time for the signal from my stomach to reach my brain.
i am NOT the healthiest eater in the world. i'll go out to eat and get apps and shit. i'll eat a french dip for lunch sometime. i am overweight, but i haven't been obese in a long time.
and really when i say "keto", i don't necessarily mean going hardcore <20g carbs a day for a year. maybe go hardcore for like two weeks, but after that just don't do breads, sugars, or potatoes. eat all the vegetables, carrots/onions whatever. a carrot carb is a hell of a lot different then a cheese danish carb. i don't think i'm ever in danger of mindlessly eating 800 calories worth of carrots but you can but your ass i'll house one of those fuckin costco coffee cake muffins.
actually i wonder what it would be like to eat 800 calories worth of carrots. kind of want to try it. maybe we could have a carrot eating contest at brunch. bunch of little bunny rabbits at brunch just munching carrots.

also proud of everyone in this thread making a change in their lives. i hope you all know your value is NOT tied to your weight or fitness level. you are all valuable because you are human beings, you are all social creatures deserving of love.
exercising more or dropping some pounds is something you do for you, something to make you physically feel better.

My perspective is that the Keto did work. It worked when I was doing it. Then when I didn't do it, and simultaneously didn't do any sort of healthy routine, I became less healthy.
When I did Keto for 2 months or whatever it was, I didn't go into it thinking that these two months were going to have my body looking good for the rest of my life. I wanted to lose weight, did, then became sloppy for reasons that had nothing to do with the specific diet I was on before.
In 2015, I had a really great 3 month stretch of working out and eating healthy and got into really good shape. Then I fell off the wagon and in turn my body looked worse and most progress was lost. In my mind, that doesn't mean that the 3 months of working out and eating healthy didn't work.
Of course, I agree that there has to be a lifestyle change regardless of what method / route you are using to see permanent results, but even then you can slip into bad lifestyle routines later on and it still wouldn't mean that your progress at one point was positive.

Been biking the past few days and I think this is gonna replace my walks. There's a bridge I can bike over every day and it's a reminder that I live in a vacation destination, something I take for granted pretty often while I bitch about the cost of living here. Burning more calories in less time, and loving the leg workout.

That sounds so nice! I’m really looking forward to the days getting longer again so I can get back outside.
Apparently, my aunt and uncle are currently training for a 100-mile gravel bike ride, and I can’t even begin to imagine that.

There's data supporting low carb life styles as well as intermittent fasting on lowering cholesterol and helping lower a1C. Of course if you eat a bunch of trans fats it is not good for your health and heart but the blanket statement that keto is bad for your health is inaccurate.

I’ve been in a small calorie deficit since the beginning of the month. It’s like a really small one, so I knew progress would be slow. But the last two weeks, I don’t feel like the scale has moved at all. I’ve just been up and down in the same two pound range the whole time, and I’ve been getting a little frustrated by it. I’ve thought about lowering my calories a little more, and I may still end up doing that at some point, but this morning, I also took my measurements for the first time in two weeks. I’m down half an inch in my chest and waist and over an inch in my belly! I’ll happily take an inch off my belly over a couple pounds on the scale any day!
